It's not about supporting this town it's about people having/making their own choice's, when it gets down to where other's tell me what I can eat or shop, I'll tell them where they can go and it's not to eat or shop. LOL The entire point flew right over your head. Too bad. /quote] uhhhh no it didn't

Didn't the guy who ran Captain Jacks cook at the 820 back in the day. I used to work with Jack before he retired and started selling fried chicken. When he had his place on East Main Street, I stopped in one time. He had his back turned, and I said: "I have been looking for you punk." He whipped around with his 18 plus inch arms ready to fight. When he saw it was me, he relaxed. Somehow, I didn't scare him.

Isn't he up in Plano or Sandwich now? (Captain Jack) I never even knew 820 had food. I was driving through Naplate a number of years ago, and saw the sign for Captain Jacks. I went inside and asked for Jack. I was told that he sold the place years before.

Isn't he up in Plano or Sandwich now? (Captain Jack) I never even knew 820 had food. They served dinners on Fri. & Sat. nites, lunches for the booming (at the time) Owens crowd, on Mon.-Fri. BTW, I know the "Secret ingd. for the Mac n Cheese from there, & never had any better since! They also served dinner for only their 'select' friends for New Years Eve., giving them 2 or 3 choices TO tell them ahead of time.

Lamplite room was great, too. One of the owners wives ran the kitchen & they had several cooks. Day (assited her)/Nite ones. Later 1 went to cook @ the rest./bar near the old taxi co. Freds? She still makes the best Ital. Salad dressing too. ...

Here is what drives me CRAZY!!!! We just lost a movie theatre because it wasn't supported by the community. People were going out of town to watch movies and not support something local, yet people will say, "There is nothing to do in Streator", when in fact there was, but it wasn't supported. Enter Bullheads Restaurant. We are all in a hurry to travel out of town to eat when there are just as nice of restaurants in Streator as Bullheads. It drives me nuts! When the restaurants start closing I don't want to hear, "There's no where to eat in Streator" , when in fact there IS, but we'd rather drive out of town and do the same thing to the restaurants that we did to our movie theatre. WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A list of Streator restaurants that are the same as Bullheads: DaLee's The Pines Al's Chippers Chix Teke's There are other restaurants in Streator... the preceding list are those restaurants that are no different than Bullheads! Yeah maybe with the Pines, but all others...sorry I beg to differ, although we've never been to Al's when friends of ours told us about a "problem" that they experienced there....all others you list are the same ole typical "fast food - type" chicken, burgers, etc. I would like a restaurant here in town that would have linen table cloths and napkins, and real silverware..not plastic and paper. WHO here that you list have lobster....none that I am aware of? Please do correct me here if I am wrong............ and enlighten me................ I DO try to cater to local business when applicable ...but sometimes for special occasions it'd be nice to go to a 5 if not 4 star restaurant, and you can NOT tell me that Streator has one................ JMHO M

Streator has got to be the fried chicken capital of the state. I have had fried chicken in around ten places in town; all were good. I never had Jack's chicken, but I bet he got the recipe from some guy at the Drain Tile. There was a guy there who used to cook for union outings, etc. I know that Jack really liked the guy's chicken.

Was it Charlie? He used to make Chix for bus trips to the races/time trials to Indy. I went on one.
