I have a question regarding jury duty. I received a badge in the mail last week...I am group 1. I do not have transportation. I can possibly get a ride to Etna road but a buddy of mine said I might have to go to courthouse downtown too? Do they provide a shuttle bus from Etna to courthouse? I know the parking at the courthouse is insane. I'm guessing I'll have to go since I'm group 1. I don't know what to expect... Help..

Megan, you may luck out in the first place & not have to go. You call the night before to see if you have to report. If you do go & have to head down town you could probably ride with another juror downtown. There is also a possibility that you may not be picked as a juror because they mail out more summons than necessary. Hope it all works put. :-)

You can take the jury notice to your Dr and have hlm fill it out And give you a note to send with it to excuse you from even serving jury duty . I do it every time I get one. Cause the courts dont realize that these offenders Remember every jurors faces when they go to retailiate Against you for finding them guilty. Idc to put up with that risk, and No one should be forced to be put in that situation.

I feel that every citizen should respond if they get a summons. It's your duty. But, I'm glad you get a med excuse, rocket. Something just tells me that's best.

So do I, Tosh. It is only one of two times you get to directly participate in our form of government. The other is VOTING.

REJECTED AGAIN! I got my Jury notice about a week ago. I washed my bibs, got out a clean shirt and even made plans to take Mom to an early breakfast in Ottawa. Then I called the 800 number they give you. The recording said that my "services were not needed today, but they will notify me again in THREE YEARS???" WTH?? Nutz.

They pay lesser then your workplace does. It is sad to say the place I work at thought paid crapty, but jury duty pays lesser then what I get from my work place. Not worth the gas to travel to do jury duty. $15.00 a day v.s. $40.00 a day. Not worth it. With all the taxes we pay to the criminal justice system, they can come out and give people at least $75.00 a day plus mileage to make some decent money to pay your bills with.
^^^^^^^^^^^And that is the 2nd reason I won't do jury duty. Don't pay enough.

LOL, First time the Judge rejected me after telling me I shouldn't think like I did. My only response was, "Well, should I lie to you?" Second time, not needed, unlike Dave, it didn't bother me much. Third time, actually got picked, went into the courtroom, defendant walked in, talked to his Lawyer, judge sent us away for a few, we got word that the Defendant looked at is and decided his plea deal was the way to go.......... Fourth time, services not needed........ All in all, I don't mind local service, not too sure I would appreciate Federal Grand jury service, I am sure they could find someone closer to that chithole Chicago than I am....... Dave, if I ever get selected, can I hire you to do my service? Oh yea, remember, Jury Nullification, works for me........

Was it the bibs and beard? ?^^^^^^^^ Don't tell me he was profiling a country boy. Nah, it was a rape case, lets just say I believe in whacking members off if you get convicted.

My last jury duty , I was asked if I could vote for probation for an ag robbery case. This means that someone held up a person WITH A LETHAL WEAPON like a GUN or a KNIFE!. I said I could not. They said hit the road and wait for the next trial. Yup, in Dallas County, they keep you all day until they run out of trials. I was there from 8 AM to 8 PM. BTW Jury Duty has nothing to do w/ making money. It is a legal right/obligation.

Saw this in the comments on fb, discussing a woman recently put to death for a child abuse murder. It was in response to a comment against the death penalty: ' only God can judge. Texas just arranges the meeting!' Love it.

Love those Texas attitudes. Along with Ron Whites ' while others are abolishing the death plenty, Texas is putting in an express line'
