I enjoyed myself last night. I saw some cars, one in particular that I would love to own. Lots of love and attention given to those vehicles. Everyone have FUN?

My neighbor went and had a good time. Last time I went, I saw Mayor Ray. Mom wants to go next year as she has never seen this wonderful thing our town does! Kudos to all the hard work put in by the organizers!

This is the one day every year that I keep open, so I can reconnect with people I haven't seen all year!

Good time, as usual, hard to cruise for all the people walking in the cruise lane, but this year I brought one that it didn't matter if it took an hour crawling thru the maze. It was nice to not worry about your engine......... I think the car count was down just a tick, but some REALLY nice iron out there!

Did the city ban those fire cars that shoots flames 4ft in the air?
All I keep seeing on fb and youtube the last few yrs are fire cars that shoot small flames straight out and downward to the street. That area is clear enough to allow those tall flaming cars to participate.

The move to have the cars on one side only, was to relieve that congestion. I thought that worked pretty well. I did hear comments from some car owners that their cars were clear at the end. Hard to please everyone, and solve every problem without causing someone a compromise.

Hard to please everyone, and solve every problem without causing someone a compromise. It worked well unless you were trying to drive thru there without hitting people. Like I said, it wasn't terrible except for later in the night. A few reminders from the announcer for people to try and stay out of the cruising lane is probably all it would have taken. I do have to say, I didn't see nearly as many drunks this year.

There are a couple things I suggested in the past to allow both cars and crowd a better time. Do not allow fundraising and food tables on the sidewalks. Use the Fire Station lawn and Union Bank parking lot for those. This would keep congestion off the sidewalks reducing the need to walk in the street. It's cruise night not fundraising night. I would also like to see downtown businesses open at night. With that many people in town it would be a great way to have more people stop in and see what you have in your store.
Another suggestion I have made is to allow alcohol on the street that night. But only in a commemorative cup purchased from different locations for $5-$10. Then that money from the sales could be put towards the cost of next years night. It could bring in at least $20,000. There are a lot of people walking and drinking anyway so why not profit from it. Police could check all other cups and either have violators buy one or write a ticket.

Police could check all other cups and either have violators buy one or write a ticket. Two years ago we had a booth during Cruise Night. We were told we had to be inside a business entrance. In other words, we picked Edward Jones and set up in the alcove in front of the door. We could not block the sidewalk. It had to be approved by the couple who organized that (can't remember their names but they were so kind).. I did not get a chance to walk down Main St. this year but were there fundraisers set up on the sidewalks? If so, I do agree with you Father of Two, they should be placed in an entrance so they are not blocking walking traffic. As for Fundraising during Cruise Night, that's been allowed for years. I'm glad they allow organizations to do that. It makes money for them plus raises awareness to the many programs Streator has to offer like Kiwanis, Light Up Streator etc. It would be nice to have the businesses open as well....good idea!
