Kyle, how much are the Majestic shirts? I'm in bad shape and couldn't make it to Cruise Night, I will send my wife up to Flip's on Monday to buy a couple. Hoodies are $25, sweatshirts are $20, and the T-shirts are $15. Sorry, the store will probably not be open for at least a couple of weeks. You can keep an eye on it's facebook page to find out when it may be open again. Thanks for your support. Thanks, Kyle. I will keep my eye on the FB page.

I think that you ask for too much for the clothes. Where you could go to Ottawa thrift stores and get the clothes cheaper. If you has the clothes a little cheaper you might or might not do any better than what you are doing now. I, for one, would rather donate my clothes, or items rather than to receive a percentage for clothes sold. Due to I am one that is not sure when I would go to your store and find something. Granted there is nice, decent things, clothing, tables I've seen in your store. And maybe have store hours one night from maybe 2 until 8p.m. for the ones that work days and don't get a chance to shop until after work.

Thanks for the input, but if anyone wants to try a different business model they are welcome to put together a proposal or take a shot at it in any of the vacant buildings that are for rent around here. Chris didn't want it to be a thrift store. At thrift stores you typically find the items that people just didn't want any more, didn't have much value. At thrift stores, you find a lot of clothes with rips, stains, missing buttons, generic brands, etc. He tried to get people to bring in items of better quality, things that still had some considerable value that they just didn't need or want. The store provides a lot of name brand items and were inspected for quality. It provides a service to many people, having almost 2200 consignors. The store did great when Chris was here and still interested in living in Streator. It was covering the expenses of the business and building and providing him a living. Each year the store was climbing in the Times reader survey. He was really into the numbers and had a spreadsheet showing the store's revenues increasing considerably each month over the same months from the previous year. However, when our City publicly declared him illegal those numbers changed. Business took a hit for him. When the Mayor stopped the Aquaponics business that he had done a lot of research on and was excited about, he decided that he didn't want to waste his business degree here and started looking for some place else to go. When he left, operations were scaled back considerably losing the store's on-line sales and some internet promotions, among other tasks, and revenue suffered. The store still did well enough after he left with my wife operating the day to day management, and it covered expenses. As his career is developing running it from afar was becoming more difficult. My job was already in the process of changing as my employer began acquiring more locations. After my daughter left with our grand kids, my wife decided that she would just help put this new theatre together with me, as we have several times before. With both of us gone a good part of the time now and our employees wanting to move on, we don't have the time right now to train new employees and manage the business, and why, when our City leaders and others have made it so clear to us that they do not want us here? The hours could be expanded if the business climate downtown were to change to make it more worthwhile. It's not like there is very much traffic or business down town these days anyways. Limited sporadic hours are the result of what downtown is, we will open it as we have the time. We will try to post on facebook when it will open.

Hey, everyone...who recalls Kyle stating that they looked directly at HIM when talking about storefront residences? I don't remember him saying they named or looked at his son. Also, hasn't he repeatedly said that the building owner approached HIM about a use for his building, and HE suggested aquaponics and its been his baby all along? Anyway...most people have posted that they were UNAWARE of Kyle (and now Chris) being called illegal until KYLE started posting it here, over, and over, and OVER. Maybe the drop has more to do with KYLE and his calling streatorites corrupt, liars, drunks, public urinators, who expose themselves to children. Who thinks it has to do with those. accusations? Kyle has accused me, the cops, and others of supporting public urination, but he thinks we would think less of him because someone supposedly called him illegal because he lives in an apartment above his store. Teeheehee. Yet, he's seen how this town supports its own, and can't face that he's caused his own decrease in numbers. SMDH

You will find my response on Kyle's blog. Why? Your comment that I responded to was here ^^. Oh, right. You can't get enough people to respond to your posts tearing apart the city, so you drag comments over there. I've asked you numerous times, to leave my comments on the topic they were originally posted on. Maybe you have a reading comprehension problem. I'm glad you or your son doesn't need revenue from your store. But, if you seriously can't see that your vindictive attitude has turned many off, and in turn, hurt your business FAR more than an article in the paper that nobody noticed it said you were 'illegal', then just go ahead and babble. Cruise night was a successful family event that brought in large crowds from all around, out of town, and out of state. I did have to lol when I heard an out of town tourist ask where the nearest bathroom was, and when told there weren't any right there, he commented that he was just going to go around the corner, in the alley. I spoke up, and asked if he'd do that at home, and he said yes. I knew it wasn't just streator that did that.

Even though I could be wrong, I think that Kyle and Cindi and their family has moved on with their life and other things. So no I do not think Flips will stay open. People do move on. At least they made effort with the store and did not work out. I think a lot of the building up town and threw out town really needs repairs or torn down and let people rebuild if they are interested in business. But another thing that hurts businesses is the internet. For example is the Streator stuff.

Not saying there were no beers consumed all night. Lol but, not by me. I like a glass of wine. Or 2
