Within the recent past I had dealings with a movie theatre owner in Illinois. There is a website for movie theatre owners to check out the monthly or weekly tickets sold at any theatre. He said when he would look at the Majestic in Streator he wondered how they even kept the doors open.
Tim Burke owns the Majestic. He is in the business to make money, not to turn the lights on the marquee so people can reminisce and say how nice it is to have the ligths turned on. THERE OBVIOUSLY WEREN'T ENOUGH PEOPLE GOING TO THE THEATRE TO COVER THE BILLS!
Tim probably got tired of dumping money every month into the theatre to pay the bills, going by what my movie theatre owner friend told me. Maybe Tim is going to sell the digital projector to try and recover some of his losses since he opened the theatre? I'm not saying it's the right thing for Tim to do ethically... I'm just trying to connect the dots.
It all goes back to my originaly post... people did not support the Majestic!! If Tim was making money he would have surely kept it open and the money would have kept on flowing in.
And trying to sell it will be difficult. Any movie theatre owner is going to look at the website to see how ticket sales were going and they will not want to make an investment in it since nobody supported it. This was probably the last hurrah and last chance for a "Majestic" building!
It's sad!

This was on facebook, a few minutes ago. It says it is from Tim Burke's facepage.
I don't normally post all that much but feel it necessary now. For the Record I am Not, repeat NOT the owner of the Majestic Theatre in Streator. There is alot of speculation, assumptions, and of course rumors regarding this. I have received inquiries and messages from people some calling me names from people I have never met. I do want to wish Katie Dumke Troccoli and Jim the best of luck as this moves forward.

Who is getting the new equipment? Ottawa theaters? I'm very sure the answer to that is no. I work for a different company now, but may be doing some work there in the future still, such as installing more digital. Having to actually pay for the equipment with theatre revenue, the Roxy owner selected a more economical brand of projector(about $29,000 each) and now wants to keep his equipment standardized. Besides, I'm sure that he wouldn't even want to be involved in this debacle in any way. At one time Katie had pictures of the Roxy posted on her Here and Again hand out request page, but she has absolutely nothing to do with the Roxy. I demanded that she pull them right away, and it was done within an hour. That takes some nerve to try to use someone else's theatre to try to get donations for her.

As helen said, he should have given it a chance. The Roxy only has one digital right now. With the end of the summer product, less of the releases are going to be 35mm. I am pretty sure that there were going to be instances where the Majestic could have had product that the Roxy didn't, something that rarely happens. I was already think what a windfall it was going to be for Streator.

This was probably the last hurrah and last chance for a "Majestic" building! It's sad! I have a Rentrak account as well and can see that the Majestic's grosses have not dropped considerably any time recently. It is not losing any more money now than it has over the years of their fund raising. I am very confident that Tim knew all about the fundraising efforts that went on there for years. Why didn't he just close the place down before so much money was being requested by his corporation? It is just wrong to wait until all of the money is given and then suddenly decide that he didn't have enough support from the community to keep the theatre open. It figures that you would be sticking up for someone like him. The business would absolutely of had a better chance of surviving if there weren't so many drunken brawls downtown keeping people and their money away. Yes, trying to sell it will be very difficult. The building is falling apart, it has many problems.

Yes, because a man in Ottawa named Tim Burke is getting threatening messages from people thinking he is the Tim Burke who lives in California and owns The Majestic.

Some idiot was posting his picture the other day on there rallying everyone up.

He should have shut it down without a whimper about the digital projectors then. It's dirty. It's his to shut down if he chooses, but not to take the projectors that were so recently installed to keep it going. He was not the daily MANAGER or operator of the Majestic. In THAT sense it is totally not his call to board it up and toss in the towel. Certainly not his right to remove or sell the projectors either. I certainly hope Mr. Endres knows of the situation and something can be done. Like I said... I'm just trying to connect the dots. The entire situation is sad. We lost a movie theatre, period.

According to the article it is pretty obvious who it was, isn't it? "Katie Troccoli, a partner and manager of the business, and associates were videotaped carrying equipment from the theater."

Seen them loading up a nice looking maroon colored truck yesterday. Wonder who is the owner of that?

Did I see a post from MM asking about what my cameras might have captured? Maybe I could take the time to look at what is on the DVR and maybe I could post video of Mr. Burke showing up on site to survey his loses (actually it's the donors loses though). Maybe I could post video of his local friends and family members who participate in his unscrupulous actions and support these things that he does.
Wasn't that the realtor in the paper talking with police after the incident? Clearly he knows the equipment is gone, but when I called his office, they don't know if it is included in the sale. How do you sell something when you don't know what's included? The equipment has more value than the building. John Grieves said Monday that it was included for the $267,000 price, surely he can't ask that same price for it without the equipment. I want to know how much less the building price is now that the equipment that he doesn't have can not be included. Now that there seems to be a big legal battle coming, maybe that realtor should just drop the listing.

Kyle, Never have thought of what you posted. Now there is even more to go hmmm. At least when Kyle and Cindi Managed the theatre, there was no hanky panky going on when they left the theatre. But there sure is a lot of things now that don't seem right.
