Do any of you know the finances of the theater, or are you simply speculating?
Was she making the payments? Did she miss her payroll? How about the utilities, were they up to date?
We have some first hand accounts of the owners MO, yet it seems as if everyone thinks it was a money issue.

Before the fb page was taken down, there was a lot of...accusations...back n forth. who knows what parts were true, half truths, or just blame. but, if it had been profitable, I don't think it would be boarded up. there was accusations that it wasn't paying utilities.
I think he made a big mistake in not giving it a chance to see the effect of getting first run movies faster than surrounding areas now that the digital projectors were installed, though. i think that could've been a turn around.

I just want to make sure that these people are not scamming the community. It was a thought that crossed my mind this morning. I, very well, could be wrong, on my thought.

Dear Congressman Kinzinger,
I believe that a 20th Century Fox employee has stolen about $130,000.00 in donations from Streator.
As you should already know that media conglomerate and others have mandated the very expensive conversion to digital projection in theatres to save them huge money not having to produce 35mm prints, as has been done for over a hundred years. The huge cost of the conversion was pushed on to theatre owners, who in turn were forced to turn the cost over to the movie-goers with higher ticket prices, which also results in more film rental for the studio since it is based on a percentage of ticket price. Now that some studios are not releasing their biggest movies on 35mm, there are many small town theatres like the Majestic in Streator that would be forced out of business. I have been reading about businesses that have been in families for generations serving smaller communities being shuttered by this. This alone is wrong in my opinion and never should have been allowed to happen.
Tim Burke, the owner of the Majestic Theatre building in Streator, I believe is also an employee of 20th Century Fox, living in the Los Angeles area, and president of Stone Soup Entertainment, an Illinois for-profit corporation that was operating the Majestic. For years, the corporation has been soliciting the public for donations to fund the conversion and "Save the Majestic". In June they announced they had collected $130,000.00, enough for the conversion. Monday night the theatre was boarded up with a for sale sign placed on it. Tuesday's Times Newspaper reported that the Majestic was closed indefinitely, by Tim Burke. I called Fox to ask for answers, but they have not return my calls.
Movie-goers in Streator opened the wallets to fund Hollywood's huge savings and now just months later can not enjoy movies. Certainly that can't seem right to you, can it?
I am confident that there has to be something that you can do to correct this. I know that the studios have strong lobbying efforts in Washington. Please help the movie-goers of Streator and the rest of the country. I am sending a copy of this letter to media outlets and posting it on social media because I feel strongly that this really needs to be corrected quickly.
Thank You, Kyle Mitchell

I've posted before that I feel what the entire industry (Hollywood) is doing is wrong. Movie-goers never should have had to pay for this change to this extent they have. Tim is just helping me make my point. I have also sent it many other other places including to the MPAA who has known who I am and of my complaints against what they do for many years now.
I invite you to write him a letter as well. I could get you Fox's e-mail and street address if you like, I've posted their phone number.

Saw this morning, when I past the theatre, men taking stuff out of the building and filling up pick up trucks. Then about 45 minutes, when passing saw two city cop, one car and the explorer, outside the building. On the way back home, saw the third cop car, and the timepress photographer there.

I'm wondering why the SPD was there, when they told them, the night of it being boarded up that it was a "Civil" matter?!?!
If it was in fact Kaite retrieving HER belongings, she has the right to them!

The Majestic Theater Facebook page is non-existent now too. Was taken down sometime this morning after 9am.....around the time they were there hauling stuff out of the theater. What a shame and what a mess. There has to be more to this story. I don't know either person involved on either side, all I know is someone smells like fish. Something just isn't right.
Guess time will tell.
Oops update: The page is back up but people are asking why the Majestic Event was cancelled.

With asking for donations, from the public, like the popcorn challenge I think that there is a scam going on.

Wow. There is a lot of conjecture going on in the various Facebook threads on The Majestic. People hear something and run with it. Conspiracy theories, scams, bad guys and good guys. Maybe somebody should form some type of commission and get to the bottom of it. (Sarcasm)
