I hope there is not another carjacking attempt like last year's cruise weekend. It had to be an awful for the female victim and all of the females in town . This event brings out the best of worst! One can only hope the law is more responsive and not in denial.

I am betting anyone with a ccw will not comply with the law banning guns at local events/gatherings. And people that are up to no good better think twice of committing crimes during the cruise night, Cause there maybe progunners there packing and disregarding the gun banning. Too many thugs in town that I don't know anyone who would not carry a gun on the during this event, regarding past incidences within the last 5 yrs. Personally I don't care to go this this event cause it don't interest me. But just saying there could be a few ccw downtown carrying for protection.

Sorry officer I was just walking thru this gathering to get to where I was going, which is legal to do. Not saying that you couldn't get arrested, but they would have to prove you were attending the event, not just passing thru the event.

One can only hope the law is more responsive and not in denial. We have one so called carjacking, and I am using the word carjacking very loosely, that happened to occur in Streator, probably not involving anyone who was attending the cruise night festivities, in an area of town that was away from the cruise. Other than stirring the pot, why would cruise night and carjackings even be closely related? Even the dragging death that you speak of at times occurred 14 years ago. It is hardly a common occurrance. Why do you feel the need to bring down a popular event in this town? Its a granted that people should be aware in large gatherings and it is ok to ask the police to be vigilant, but why try to un-necessarily scare people about something that isn't typical about the event, or Streator as a whole?

I agree dog. An incident could happen anywhere. At any time.
Be alert. Be aware of those around you. DON'T gather by, or associate with drug dealers or thugs. When driving, don't have your purse on the passenger seat. Keep your windows up. If you see someone starting an agreement, WALK AWAY.
I drive though some crappy areas of peoria every week, and driving through streator is nothing like it. Cityslicker, you must be one of those that doesn't get out much.

This event brings out the best of worst! Actually, this event brings out most of Streator and we all get to enjoy some beautiful cars. It's an event the whole town can be proud to participate in. You get to mingle with people you haven't seen in forever.

Looks like cruise night may get rained out. Weather Guy saying going to be a rainy weekend. no one is going to bring out their hotrods in the rain. Costed them alot of money to restore and customize their vehicle.
