How well are the codes in Streator checked? Big Laugh! The other day a friend had a sale and the code officer stopped because the sign was not in the proper place. BIG DEAL, did he drive around Streator and see all the signs that are on the berm, CMJ's plus others? Pretty petty, if he is worried about a sign sitting on city property, but yet NOTHING is done about people who do NOT cut their grass, have corn growing in yards along with weeds and etc. This is MORE of an eyesore for Streator than a sign that is misplaced. No wonder people do NOT want to come to Streator.

You got caught violating a law. Just have to deal with it. Don't be upset about it.
If I get a speeding ticket should I be mad because I see someone else speeding and they don't get a ticket?

Did he ticket you, or inform you that it was misplaced? You don't complain about paying a ticket, so it sounds like he simply instructed you on your error. Sounds like he was doing his job. And being lenient, if he didn't ticket you don'tllook a gift horse in the mouth

I'm glad they are cracking down on rummage sale signs. Its tiresome to have people place signs in your yard without permission, in some cases leaving giant 2 x 4 holes, and then never retrieve them after the sale.

BwahaaHA...I'm glad you realized I wasn't saying what you posted was rude. Lol, but that someone sticking posts and making holes in your yard was rude. Came back to read bums post, and my post made me do a double take! Lol

What's wrong w/corn in your yard? At least it's food & peeps should be able to garden on thier own property ... albeit, I'd plant the tall ones in the back tho.

NOW THAT is something I dont understand why they dont ticket! I mean..all those signs have an address, date..etc on them..if they arent removed and found on the ground on the light pole or on the street sign they attached it to AFTER the date of the sale..WHY are they not fined for littering? or something or other..JMO

Drive to their address and hand them the ticket. Easy money. Man, if the city would deputize me I could have written so many tickets last night for talking on cell phones. Practically every other car that stopped at the sign by our house was breaking that law. Ca-ching!!

You can still talk on the phone while driving as long as it is hands free via speaker phone or blue tooth. You just cannot be holding the phone while driving.

Fyi the newer cars that are coming out have built in blue tooth to work with any cell phones and go thru the radio speakers in the vehicles for loud and clear conversations hands free and all controlled on the steering wheel with the talk/ hang up buttons on the steering wheel for quick and easy access without taking your eyes off the road.

These people all have a phone in their hand and held up against their ears yakking away. We were saying last night an officer could stand in our yard (they wouldn't be expecting that) see the law breaker, and radio to a waiting car around the corner. Oh, the money they could bring in during one night.

They either don't care about the cell phone laws or when the law went in effect ,they are still under contract with the phone they have that probably doesn't have speaker phone or blue tooth capability.

I saw one driver last night talking using his speaker phone capability. The only problem was he still had it in his hand albeit three inches from his mouth. I had to laugh because it obviously wasn't "hands free". I think they are hoping to not get caught.
