Yes, thank you sassypants. It is refreshing to see a City leader willing to answer questions from the public.
What is your solution to the excessive bar violence problems, or do you share your husband's views that they are acceptable because Naperville also had a fight?

What is your solution to the excessive bar violence problems, or do you share your husband's views that they are acceptable because Naperville also had a fight? I don't think anyone on this PLANET has as much a burden for this subject as you do Kyle. If you think it is as big a problem as you claim why don't you run for office with that as your platform and let the voters speak? I really DON'T want to discuss it further with you........ I think it is very distasteful for you to continue to badger anyone about it, especially newly appointed officials. Let them get settled in some and see what they do. You badgered our former officials. Are you out for our new ones already? You want to alienate them as well? Come on man! I don't have to run for office for the voters to speak. She is supposed to represent the people of Streator, including me. All I did was ask her a question. I don't consider that badgering or disrespectful at all. How long do you think that she needs to be in office to decide whether or not she feels that the excessive bar violence is acceptable? Her husband posted a video of a fight in Naperville with comments to try to belittle my efforts and make it seem acceptable for people to continue to brawl in the streets and hurt business here, not to mention public safety. I have a lot invested into Streator, I don't think that asking my representatives their position on such an important matter is out of line at all, particularly when their spouse takes such a strong position against what I talk about. I don't think that I am asking for bad things for Streator. Would less drunken street brawls and public urinating really be that bad?

Actually Kyle, you're wrong. She doesn't represent you or any other voter in particular. If that were the case, decisions would never be made. She is there to use her best judgement and vote for what she thinks is best for the community. There are two sides to every vote. Those for and those against. How does an elected official choose which side to represent? Damned if they do, damned if they don't. I know, I live it in my position. The elected official makes the best decision for the entire community based on the information they have. And they do it for minimal or no money at all.

My solution is the same as it was previously when I talked to you in person. Last time the liquor licenses came up, you were there to hear how I voted regarding them. That action should speak for itself. If anyone has anything to ask me regarding thoughts / opinions, they are welcome to do so on my Facebook page, by phone, by e-mail, or in person. I will not use this forum to do so, because it is not my personal political page.

She is there to use her best judgement and vote for what she thinks is best for the community. There are two sides to every vote. Those for and those against. The elected official makes the best decision for the entire community based on the information they have. And they do it for minimal or no money at all. Unfortunately I think you are right. I don't think that councilwoman sassypants and other members do represent the people of Streator. She brings up the liquor license vote which is a good example. You said that they had to discuss it prior to the vote. I was at many public meetings prior to the vote and pay attention to what they talk about, I believe it was not discussed. I believe that the only information given out prior to the vote was a vague mention of a change on an agenda posted just a few days prior to their vote. I don't think the public had any idea whether they were planning to increase or decrease the number of licenses available for bars. Having only learned of their plans at the vote, the public was not even given a chance to voice their opinions to have a chance to be represented. That makes it seem that they are representing their own interests instead of the public's. I think that makes it even more important for the public to know how they stand on issues such as the excessive bar violence here, particularly with an important election coming up in a few months. Her husband making comments on here in support of our excessive bar violence being acceptable and trying to belittle the problems that I have been talking about for years, speaks volumes to me. I hope that next year citizens vote for leaders who will be more open to talking about the issues and actually represent the people of Streator.

I will not use this forum to do so, because it is not my personal political page. I think I remember that vote. Didn't you oppose it because you felt that a license should be kept available for a restaurant? That says absolutely nothing to me about any solution to the bar violence issue or whether you share your husband's views that having many street brawls here is acceptable because Naperville had a fight. That was a pretty cute political hit and run attack against me. Too bad he couldn't have stood behind his statements and stuck around to explain his position. You will not use this forum to talk about the real issues of Streator, because this is not your personal political page? Is that only when it is not sticking up for what the City does or to your advantage? Retread is what I would call it. Streator cannot think ahead and hires all these worn out city mis-managers. This is not an overseas city and the town has problems, that the brownies over there do not have. Was that an official city council meeting that the council members initially talked to the new (old) candidate and was an agenda posted, if so? Sounds like the good old boys agenda in full swing and closed door politics. www.ci.streator.il.us/documents/03-27-2014COWBloomington.pdfLooks like an agenda to me must have been a closed door city council meeting to me sassypants.
Based on the open meetings act, hiring / employment would fall under the categories of a closed meeting. (c) Exceptions. A public body may hold closed meetings to consider the following subjects: (1) The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity.
That seems like a double standard to me.
