We went, and had a great time. The band was fun, and the music was good.

Were they able to get the whole show complete before the drunken brawls and public urinations started?

Were they able to get the whole show complete before the drunken brawls and public urinations started? You really do want to talk about these subjects, don't you? If you really want to have these discussions, it would be nice to have them on a more appropriate thread, where they have already been discussed at length, instead of on a thread about something positive about Streator. I sure hope they were able to have the show without those things happening. Wasn't it mainly an older crowd? Were they serving alcohol? Was there a City and/or Police presence? I really doubt that they would allow the activities that I talk about and that clearly do happen too often, to occur at one of these events without there being some consequences. You do realize that the problems that I talk about typically result from younger people being served excessive amounts of alcohol, with a lack of City involvement, don't you? I commend the organizers for putting on these type of events. I think that having more people downtown for things other than getting excessively drunk is a very good thing. The more of these type of events, the better. I am glad to hear that people are enjoying and supporting these events. Thank you to those who support a more family friendly atmosphere for our downtown, I think it is a good thing for the entire community.

its good to see the band shell is being used for the good of the community. there has been problems with vandalism at the band shell lately as well as kids using it as a jumping ramp for bikes and skateboards.

I never saw any police at the park. I believe they were quite busy by the number of sirens. I did not see any drinking going on in the park, either. I do know some alcohol was consumed by a number of attendees at dinner beforehand. Probably a fair amount of them, even. it was a Saturday night.
I see no problem discussing the LACK of violence or LACK of any negative behavior on a positive thread about positive things happening in streator.
I think we should have the right to post positive events taking place without incident, since you have shown you're hell bent on posting every negative incident that takes place, Kyle.

And just because some of us have stopped trying to have conversations with you on the thread you now call your 'blog' doesn't mean we are squashing your free speech. You're free to ramble on all you like. After all, you ARE the only one with their own 'blog' on here. That doesn't mean I have to post on it. It's unnecessary anyway. You change what I say to your version, so why bother posting mine? Lol, talk about taking someone's free speech away...you've done that to ME. NOT the other way around!

I think we should have the right to post positive events taking place without incident, since you have shown you're hell bent on posting every negative incident that takes place, Kyle. Maybe you misunderstood my post. I am all for there being positive threads about positive events, groups, and businesses in our community. People have the right to post whatever they want. northsider can turn a thread about a positive into a conversation about the negatives if he wants to, I was just giving my insignificant opinion that I think there is a more appropriate thread for these other issues to be discussed. Just so that we are very clear, I have not posted about every negative incident that takes place, far from it. I have information on many incidents that have not been mentioned here at all; I have many videos that have never been posted anywhere. Please do show me where I have changed what you have said and I will apologize. I didn't change your version of these statements did I? Maybe if he had grown up in small town USA, surrounded by cornfields, strip mine pits, and a river running through it, he would have been 'exposed' to things like skinny dipping on warm summer nights, parties in the middle of cornfields, where porta potties were not provided, and you simply looked away and gave your fellow party goers privacy. When a couple friends drank too much and ended up in a fight, you simply told them what jerks they were the next day. I ve got news for you...men in small towns everywhere relieve themselves n corners of buildings. Quit wasting the police's time with those calls. Isn't that you trying to make urinating in public and fighting seem acceptable? We should look the other way and just call them jerks the next day. That seems to be pretty much the same attitude that I've experienced from our City leaders too. I feel that these activities are wrong, hurt business in our downtown, and should not be allowed to continue. All I have been asking for is that we start taking some action to reduce the number of these incidents to help our community improve. However I receive great resistance from you and others here who seem hell bent on allowing these things to continue without any consequences.

The city should have Vactor build one of these and hire Kyle to run it.
