My smoke detector, keeps going off. I have searched high and low, for a fire and so far so good. I do have the hallway blocked to the upstairs. Could the humidity be doing it? It is not that beep when the batteries are low. It is full fledged alarming. tia

Are you cooking anything? Steam can set them off. Mine kept going off in the basement and found the clothes in the dryer were steaming when I opened the door. Not burning ,just steaming .

No, nothing. It must be the humidity, I guess.

It could also well be malfunctioning......... If it is very old at all, I would consider replacing it.

its every 5 years a smoke detector should be replaced according to the safety council. some in fact start giving a warning beep after the 5 year period has passed.

Replace the batteries toshiko, that should fix it. When batteries are low the detector will go off or beep a bunch of times to let you know.

Thanx. I took it down, removed battery, same battery, and all is good. Poor LillDogg, hid in the side table. Picture to follow. I was washing my hair, running around, trying to find a fire. It really scared me.

Mine was doing the same ALL weekend starting at 4:30AM ! Hubby wouldn't get up to deal with it so I threatened to "_KILL_ IT WITH..... A "BROOM" (he slept through the **** Thing.) We change out the batteries every 6 mos. at the Time Change, this IS too EARLY. I finally got the ladder, took it off of the ceiling and into the kitchen. We have 2; with1 in the hall between the bath and bedrooms. Hard NOT to hear.
I couldn't get the clasp open to change the batteries so it sat all weekend on the counter in the kitchen going off each time I walked into the room. GRRRrrr...... Ours both Talk AND Beep, SCREACHING " There is Smoke and Fire" LEAVE THE PREMISES "There is Co2 and a level of Co2", which kept saying the count is ZERO. We've been having issues with _ENERGIZER BATTERIES_ Not having more than a 4-5 mos. lifespan. This was the problem. Next Batteries; Duracell ! **** things AND Hubby, BOTH made for A LONG weekend.
