Apples and oranges is his forte. But getting back on subject.. We could not find a Dr. here when we moved some 7 years ago. We found all I needed in Ottawa. My wife found specialist for her problems in Kankakee's Riverside complex of medical facilities. I would only go to St Marys on an emergency basis. Now THAT is something we will miss if it closes down.

Another example of Kyle and his exaggerations. The fountain restoration is NOT $380,000. The City Council accepted a bid for $137,950 for the work at the 9/17/13 Council Meeting. That's quite a difference. You have no credibility. Oops, my mistake, sorry. As I was typing, I was thinking of also mentioning the $375,000.00 band shell that was supposedly going to attract more population here, and typed $380,000.00 instead of $138,000.00. Thank you for being here to correct me. I've always said that I was not opposed to admitting that I am wrong, when it can be shown. With all the different things that I talk about, I would expect that I would make a mistake and have something wrong from time to time. I haven't had to correct myself too often though. My point was that with our population dwindling so much, I think our City should put their attention and resources behind correcting the problems instead of spending so much on park amenities. I don't think that enough people want to live where there are so little consequences for violence in our streets and the other crimes, or where our Mayor makes up unlawful restrictions and lies to blame businesses for the City's uninviting attitude.

The hospital was cutting back whether or not they put in a band shell, fixed the fountain or allowed aquaponics to come to town. I think it was the bar fights and people having chickens in their apartment that did in the maternity ward.

I'm sorry Kyle but I don't for a second agree with your reasons for people not moving here. Your reasons are of a personal nature, more of a personal vendetta than anything else. It's been said for years and will be said for years in the future unless there is a change- The lack of an Interstate or 4 lane state highway linking us to an Interstate doesn't promote growth. Time is money to big companies like Walmart & Ace Hardware & Aldi and all of the rest that have built distribution centers. Wirtz built in Lexington because of that (as well as other perks).

Also we are losing another Doctor in this Town. Sinha a great Orthopedic Surgeon is Leaving July 1st. "Great Doctor" LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!! After going through him BUTCHERING my significant others shoulder, which required another surgery by a SPECIALIST to repair, I wouldn't exactly call him "great" at anything...Our last visit to Sinha, he literally grabbed the WRONG arm, and was surprised at the remarkable improvement... I wouldn't let that QUACK put a band-aid on me...

I don't think that enough people want to live where there are so little consequences for violence in our streets and the other crimes Compared to places like Chicago where there are double digit shootings on an almost daily basis, or places like Rockford or Peoria, I can tolerate a few bars fights. I would be willing to bet many people feel the same way.

Hey Kyle, did you read the article in The Times about jobs in Streator? Jack Dzuris called you out. He said: " Gone is the day of a factory employing 3,000 people. We're holding our own and probably improving. Some people dont see it" Hey little buddy, you fall into that "some people" category. As a matter of fact, you are probably the only one he is referring to.

Back on topic, many people I talk to have been traveling out of town to have babies anyway. Satellite facilities from the hospitals along with quick care clinics and place like Streator Drugs that do testing are cutting into the hospitals customer base much more than the declining population, like he suggests. Ottawa, Peru, LaSalle and Pontiac also have declining populations but you arent seeing the cuts there. This guy sure wasnt going to put in the paper that it was poor management and changes in the healthcare industry, along with corporate greed that was the primary reason they are reducing staff and services.

It is amazing that the telemarketer shop stayed here after the city taxed the $hit out it, ( utility tax) got to pay for new clubhouses, parks and high wages. Tax and spend, they must have been taking the directive from frank, the puppet from Peru,il. Those tele jobs are the bottom of the barrel. Vactor is the only well paying job producer. Aim low, you will not be disappointed. By the way, how much does jack, the ex-banker make at the chamber ?

I think it's a Catholic/ non-profit, dog. Still, they are required to work "in the black." The government sponsored patients were killing them, as their care was insufficiently paid for.

Lets' not forget people bad mouthing Doctors, who probably didn't deserve it, and taking there business elsewhere because the Dr. looked at them wrong. And those not paying their outstanding bills with the hospital probably had a big affect on this happening. The hardest thing to do is blaming oneself, before blaming someone or something else first. I will also add that Streator has a hard time acquiring good doctors because the lack of quality of life here. Theres nothing to offer for those who like to spend their money. Unlike here Ottawa, Peru, and Pontiac have better restaurants, better shopping options, entertainment, attractions, and are located on an interstate in which they can immediately hop on and be in downtown Chicago within an hour.

Granted, my wife had our oldest daughter at IVCH. But when my son had his appendix out, Dr. Sam Baz, done the surgery. I was happy with him. When my oldest daughter scratched her sclera, Dr. Baz, again did a wonderful job. When my son had to get two pus pockets lanced, Dr. across from the hospital was wonderful. Don't remember his name. But when my son had to get a mole removed from his arm, the primary doctor sent us over to Ottawa same thing goes with my youngest daughter when she got her tonsils and adenoids out. When I had problems with my ears, I was happy with Dr. dickerson, which he is not here in Streator any more. Also when my son puss pockets was needing bandage changes, the wound clinic was wonderful. All of which we had two different insurances at the same time, when all the above was handled. Now ,as the years are going by, the more the people from this town are needing to go out of town, for specialist, which effects the money that would be going into St. Mary's if they had specialist in this town. Now I know someone that has problems with her knees, and Dr. Malik is refusing to do surgery on. So my friend has to go out of town, to receive help.

I agree completely but at present we're living in the wrong State for that to happen.
