I haven't opened up either one of our tax bills yet...YES I am procrastinating...out of sight, out of mind type of thing, lol. I did talk to one of my neighbors though that informed me theirs had gone down from the previous years, so that's a good thang, I "think"? I just hate parting with that much money, lol. I always hear in the back of my mind what my parents told me over and over ago years ago... "Two things that you'll HAVE to do in life are...pay taxes, and die". M

Joy. Mine went down a little. But wait there's more! I get to pay Uncle Sam in June! As Rosanna Rosanna Dana said, "It's always something."

Property values are going down all over the area. Our grade school district is going to lose a few hundred thousand dollars more next year. We may be broke by December if the state doesn't restore general state aid funding.

Is that because of enrolement in the schools, or because of the properties "owned" that house children................. Seriously........... I'd like to know FOT.................thanks.......... M

Now would be a time to consider the high wages that the taxpayer pays teachers, cops, firemen, city and county workers. The taxpayer cannot keep giving raises every year on their contracts. Wage freezes or layoffs must be negotiated in any new contract. What is a teacher that makes $90,000 plus, going to teach a student, that a recent college graduate can provide to a student? The Masters degree farce that is available online, is just a taxpayer stipend, that one cannot afford. The county, city, and school boards must show some backbone and quit running deficit budgets. Layoffs and firings should be on their agenda.

Hey Cityslicker, where have you been? The Grade School district has cut 18 teachers in the past 2 years, and cut almost all aides, custodial and secretarial positions to part time. The Grade School Board have cut everything they can.
