Jeff's without a doubt. GM is his specialty.
You can drive yourself stupid on some of the newer stuff electrically.

i dunno abot jeffs - i know someone who took his ride there it was barely running- was told it was the distibuter, replaced it, still ran ruff and then got socked for a fuel pump. the dist shoulda been easy to test, screwdriver in a plug wire held close to ground to check for spark- IMO if you misdiagnose a problem, the customer shouldnt have to eat the whole thing with a big labor charge racked up. he drove away 700 bucks poorer...

We try to do the best job we can, but sometimes problems do occur. We have been in business for years and have built a solid reputation in this town. Sometimes we make a mistake, other times cars have multiple problems. The circumstances you are describing dont sound familiar to me, but I would be more than happy to look into it if you provide me a name or have your friend give me a call any weekday afternoon. Without knowing the specific case I cant really make an accurate comment here, but $700 for a distributor, fuel pump, and labor sounds like an adjustment was given. I would like the opportunity to defend my reputation. You need to do some research on what and how a distributor works before making a statement that is easy to test by just checking for spark with a screwdriver. A screwdriver test will only show that the ignition system is capable of producing a secondary voltage. It will not show if that spark is being provided at the correct time,or if it has enough voltage to fire across the gap in a cylinder. You wont know if it is providing a signal to properly pulse the injectors at the correct time. Testing with a screwdriver went out a couple of decades ago. As for the original topic of this post, which is rather vague in describing the actual problem, We have had some problems with ignition switches in these vehicles, either not providing voltage or not enough voltage to certain electrical circuits. This could cause crank but no start problems, various accessories not working such as windows or blower motor, no dash lights, etc, A more precise description of your complaint might help diagnose the problem correctly.

I've gone to Jeff's several times and have always been satisfied with the work done there. Not gouged for labor or parts. Quick service and friendly. Just my two cents.

The only place I've heard any negativity on is Homebaker. All the rest of the garages including Jeff's I've heard good things on.

Jeff & his staff are very good at what they do & he took in a vehicle of mine that most shops wouldn't touch! A fair price too!
