I was killing a little time early this morning 6:20 or so and drove down Vermillion street, I was surprised when I went past the old Tuscaruora building, it looked like it burnt last evening (water standing all around the burnt office). Makes me wonder what the arson investigators have found over the years and if there is one lone arsonist out there or more ?

WTH is going on...is the arsonist perhaps BACK........oh God!! Thursday night 610 East Elm was was engulfed in flames around 10:30, which there are some strange facts surrounding this fire regarding the owners. Supposedly they were raided a few weeks ago, then last week were robed of 75 GRAND worth of electronic equipment...seriously WHO the HELL has that much $$$$ worth in their private home. Wednesday the insurance adjuster was there for the robbery, and then Thursday night it mysteriously burns...while ironically the family was all staying at the Town and Country Inn. I find WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY to many holes and "twinkidinks" in this whole story..ppffttt. Now with Tuscaroura office building........hmmm, makes me wonder if this may have pre-empted our local arsonist. M

I swear if they're unable to "link" all of this together, then I will lose ALL faith in the justice system! For unemployed people losing their house to even have 75,000 $$$ worth of electronics, let alone "anything" then......... even if perhaps they had some things and are extremely padding this amount.........sell them then, somehow.... I would think? Way too many holes in this one. And, the sad part is this was a very old cool Victorian house that will probably now be bulldozed down because of. This grand home sat next to Hefler Appliance and their house that was just demolished this past fall. So, yet another vacant lot in Streator. My neighbor told me he went by Tuscaurora and they've already bulldozed the office building. I don't even know who even owns that now...........but still................... I fear this all................... M

Well, if it has already been bulldozed then I guess there will be no arson investigation. It seems the owner didn't want there to be an investigation so they just demolished the evidence? I heard that the owners recently got a new insurance policy. I wonder if they had just left it wide open. If there were a big hole behind an easy to climb fence or missing windows at the level of an adjacent roof to allow easy access into the building, it would almost seem as if the owners were inviting something like this to happen. Isnt a fence a perfectly acceptable way to separate people from danger? For instance, a swimming pool. Don't insurance companies and zoning laws require a fence around a pool? Why is a fence not acceptable in the property you keep referring to? Protecting some little kid from the danger of falling into a pool and keeping out someone who is wanting to do a very devious illegal activity is quite different. Maybe that fence will keep some little kid from falling into the basement, but do you really think that fence will keep out an intent pyromaniac? It does seem very suspicious; it is a good thing that no one was hurt. I hope as well that we do see justice. Maybe the City should make this property owner provide a plan for the property like their vacant building ordinance requires of other owners. People that leave property wide open and do not take care of it should not plan to buy more.

This use too be OBrians House back in the day, they had rented rooms out to people for a 150 a month, I believe there were 7-9 sleeping rooms in that House.

People that leave property wide open and do not take care of it should not plan to buy more. An easy to climb fence? Doesn't look too easy for a person to climb that fence. It has to be at least 8 feet high. Or they have to climb onto another building to get into an upper window. Either doesn't seem like "easy" access to a "wide open" building. No, I don't think that a fence would keep out someone wanting to burn the place down, nor do I think that your property or my property have a foolproof way to keep someone who is bound and determined to catch them on fire either. I think the level of security that the city has at the property is adequate to protect a person who is not there illegally.

It has to be at least 8 feet high. Well that is a very definitive statement for someone that gave me so much crap for not being credible because of my use of words like considerable and tourist. I say the fence is about 6 feet high and that I could get over it in seconds. Here we are with two different positions, a good chance to test credibility? What do you say we meet down there and compare tape measures? You can time how many seconds it would take me to get over it. There are two ways to gain access to the building without unlocking or breaking anything or using a ladder. I consider that wide open and wrong. I've already been thinking about making a video about that building to post. Perhaps you should post more about how acceptably secure you think it is to try to make me look less credible.

look at bing maps satellite and one part of that building lost its roof completely . Simply climbing onto the roof and walking to the part that is missing shows everything open to gain entry thru the whole factory. The ceo should step in and give this owner 30 days to replace the roof or the building will be condemned and demolished. Got a school on one side and houses on the other side that are at risk catching fire if this building is let go to further the suspect or suspects desire to finish what they started.

rocket, dog and I were talking a bout 220 E. Main St (the former military surplus store) being wide open.
It is interesting that the Tuscarora property shows up on internet satellite images that the property is wide open.
I spoke to the "CEO" asking about the status of that property recently, he didn't have any comment though.
