Just read on facebook that councilman Hart passed away earlier today. Thoughts and prayers out to his family and friends. Wonder who his replacement will be?

Oh my god let the man rest in peace before wanting to know who his replacement will be. I don't want to sound negative but the man just passed away.

I had heard of this news earlier this afternoon while boarding my flight at the Charlotte airport. I had the pleasure of getting to know Bruce through the community organizations I was involved in and also during my employment with the city. He always put Streator first and you wouldn't of found a nicer gentleman.
That being said, I really hope MYSELF has some common decency and respect to not hijack this thread with some smart a$$ comments or turns it into a Streator City Council bashing thread like he does with everything else. If so,I guess that really will prove and show his level of character.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't myself do that to councilman Benner?

Prayers out the Hart family. I knew whom he was but did not know him personally. And in time we will find out whom will replace Mr. Hart on the city council. But at least let the family and friends get through the rest of the week with the grieving process first.

I knew him all of my life, and I always liked and respected him. He did a great deal for Streator in a variety of ways: athlete, businessman, school board member, Cephas Williams Award recipient, and councilman.

He will be missed. He was a great supporter of the Grade School Band Program and the Band-Aids, as he was with many other city and community groups.

I did not know him well. Bruce called me up while I was living in Texas over some family business. My mother and father had the upmost respect for him. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family. He and his family gave so much back to Streator. He will be missed.
