The Canoe Launch is really looking good. It's not quite Allen Park or anything, but I see some folks park down there once in a while enjoying the River. Kudos to the City for making it nicer all the time. Yea, that pipeline is a part of the Canadian Co./Koch Bros. pipeline & with all the waterways, leaks of pipes all over the country, we'll be a part of it! They were just outed on denying and NOT repairing them, warned about the non-safety, welds etc. by their engineers!

Some farmer north of Streator, near Tombaugh's old home, should do some research and reconstruct Tom's old house. It shouldn't be difficult to fill it with period pieces, articles, old telescopes and and other artifacts. They could even show where he went to school: the north east corner of Richard's Road and the "Kangley" Road." For the past four months, we have been staying not too far from Majorie Kinnan Rawling's old home. You might ask "Who she?" Her claim to fame is that she wrote The Yearling. I never read the book, but I saw the movie when I was a kid. Thousands of people visit her house every year. It really isn't much. How could there be much? There are some gardens around the house. Yet, there is a restaurant near it named The Yearling and a state park. Old Clyde would be a better draw. www.floridastateparks.org/MarjorieKinnanRawlings/

Anyone have a museum dedicated to the glass industry? Maybe have some local artisans featuring blown glass and stained glass. We certainly have the credentials, don't we? I like your idea better than mine. Owens must have plenty of space for a museum. I think a history of glass has a lot of possibilities. The museum could focus on the history of glass making in general and glass making in Streator in particular. Having some local craftsmen (or women) would be a good draw. There are probably a number of hands-on activities that could be set up for kids.
