it only gets 7miles to the gal 9 on the highway. Yes it is a 4x4 they eat gas. Cannot afford to go in debt to buy another vehicle. However like I said I burned more gas sitting at the crossing then I do anywhere else. 4yrs ago we had less train traffic could cross the tracks anywhere anytime and didn't need to fill up for a week and a half. Now the train traffic has increased getting across the tracks is slim and now filling up twice a week and have a 22gal tank at $4 a gal is $88.00 everytime I fill up which is twice a week now. You burn more gas sitting parked idling then you do driving on the rd. Your numbers show you are getting less than a HALF a MILE a gallon, not even close to the 7 mile a gal in town. Even if it is a 4X4 there is no way it is eating that much gas. How many gallons of gas do you say you use, sitting there idling waiting for a train each time? You got black smoke pouring out the back or a trail of raw fuel leaking out behind you?

no but it has well over 200,000 miles on it . It has a lot of things wrong with it now that it isn't worth fixing cause the cost is more then what the truck is worth. climate control don't work, windows don't work, and a couple other high ticket maintence repairs are needed. Sorry to say it is ready for the junk yard.

You could get a pretty decent car for $450 a month.

not when you are on a fixed income. A car payment at 100 dollars or less is what I can afford which is a 800-1000 dollar car which are junkers.

Dude, I am trying to show you how you would have the money for a good car. You say you drive 3 miles a day. Lets just say you drive 30 miles a week. If you got a car that got 15mpg, that would be around 8 bucks a week in gas, not the 160 bucks you are SPENDING now. That would leave you with 152 bucks a week that you already have to be able to spend on a different car. You could have up to a $500 a month car payment and still be spending less than you already are spending.

I want something that doesn't have power locks or power windows. Everything manual. Can't stand that electrical crap and when it breaks it is expensive to fix.

I also remember the factories in this town switched to trucks for cheaper deliveries back in the late 70's early 80's why this town has a lot of truck traffic .
This train idea is not going to benefit owens or dependable at the old anchor glass plant. All those tracks were ripped out ,and the tracks that ran along 4th st cannot be put back in since there was a house built on that piece of property that blocks putting the track back in. Dependable doesn't have any track access even coming in off the east side from the bnsf line . Those tracks have been removed.

You need to understand what an intermodal is, then you will understand why it isn't designed to benefit the businesses you listed.

Actually rocket having an Intermodal yard in town would increase Dependable Business. How would it do that? The answer is simple as can be. They are a Specialty Metal Fab Shop able to make quick runs of Needed Parts as needed for a Large Company. So if one of the My-jack Lift Cranes blew a metal part look for them to get the order for NEW business why NO SHIPPING COSTS go to the Factory and get it. Also CAT might decide to increase Production with their Parts and ship on the next train to PA or wherever it is needed. Lower cost means More Jobs.

Iron, that would never be practical. The overnight shippers would be a better source of an expedited shipping. Sounds good , waste of time .

Actually No when the Parts in I am talking about weigh about 5 Tons or more. Those parts are replaced on a Time Basis not on if they are broke basis. You do not want the MiJack going Boom with a 40K lb Container in the air it tends to make a Huge mess when that container hits the ground.
