Now, it took my husband 14 months to get approved for disability. What helped my husband was he just had turned fifty the month before he had his hearing before the judge. There is some sort of law about the age fifty and getting approved for disability. His lawyer had explained the law to him but it is still confusing. My husband did not receive back pay. At that time, when the judge approved him, he was told that they did away with back pay. And that was last March when he was approved.

When you apply, prior to having to do an appeal, I thought they had up to 90 days to make a decision. How true is that? This person that had applied for disability, its getting very close to being 90 days. It's less than a week a way from being 90 days. And this person has not received her denial letter. This person wants to get in the appeal process going. This person has called over to the social security office to find out the status of the application and really never got any where. I'm curious if they just let the application sit on the table without actually looking into the application and just have denial letters ready a head of time and send them out at the very last moment. Just what I'm thinking.

Yes, it is frustrating. I understand that most people are able to work. But at the same time if an employer, knows that there is some health issues going on with a person, is more and likely the business will not hire that person with health issues. So at least with ssi or ssdi there is income coming into the household. The person that is applying has osteo arthritis, degenerative disc disease, on the right knee bone on bone plus a torn ligament and was told that she was too young for surgery. Also was told she is not to even pick up a basket of clothes. And all this person has ever done work in the medical field.

Yesterday, the person that is applying for disability, received a letter asking for her to go to the doctors and ask them to send the disability office her records. So she spent the day yesterday going to three different places and asked them to send her records to the disability office. She then called the number that was on her letter today to find out they had received copies except for one. The one doctor(orthopedic doctor) apparently they misplaced his records. On the phone, the lady told her she will be sending the person that is applying for disability to the disability doctors but did not know when. So now it's another three month waiting period. What is with that? Come on now.

It's called the delay process, that gives them time, it's all a game, like how some people sue and it takes 7-10 years to settle.

It's a SHAME the State doesn't look into State Aide Recipients as hard as They do People applying for Disability.

It's a SHAME the State doesn't look into State Aide Recipients as hard as They do People applying for Disability. Yes. they should. I know people that should not get link and do. Or at least give link for just a time period and that's it. People do become too dependent on link. And yes some do rely on SSI, link that should not even be on those programs. But there are people to that obviously should be on also. As far as State Aide Recipients, the state should put harder restrictions as far as link.

Just because they look abled to work and not be on these systems doesn't mean they are not disabled. No one knows what their disabilities are or what kind. Can't judge them from the outside body.

Exactly....my husband has a TBI due to a car accident, and looks fine on the outside. But if he gets too stressed out, it causes seizures. He does get SSD, and it only took 3 months for him to get approved for it (no denial). Like I stated before it all depends on the disability as to how long it takes...but then again I'm not an expert on it. Good luck to your friend, emachine.

Monday was 90 days since my friend applied. Yesterday she received a letter stating they needed info from the hospital. Called today and was told that she did not put down a specific doctor. which she did. Got told also that they will have their doctors do a physical themselves and will send a letter to when and where and to whom the doctor. I feel for my friend.
