It was in the paper a week or two ago. They closed Canale and joined with another realtor.

It doesn't surprise me, properties have to sell to be able to support a real estate office. It is a sign of how many people keep leaving and not enough "outsiders" coming to replace them. It is what happens to a community when people just keep telling others to move if they don't like how things are here, rather than work for change.
I wonder if the $500 vacant building fee has already been paid and the City inspected the property yet. How long will the City wait before enacting the $750/day fines, or put in their low ball offer for it? If someone does buy it, will they have to pay another $500 vacant building fee too? Maybe this will be another one that tax payers will just end up having to pay to tear down?

The owner died a few years back and the realtors tried to keep selling under the name. It made sense to them to go to another company with structured leadership. Tough to work for a company without a true owner/leader.

Well, then maybe another real estate office will open here to fill the void caused by that death? Personally, I would think that if there were enough of a market here to support one that it would have already happened or this one wouldn't have closed.
I think properties need to start selling more here to be able to support a real estate office and many other businesses.
Maybe our City leaders will start doing things differently to try to make Streator be more of a place that more people want to live and spend their money? Maybe pigs will fly too?

Well we just sold my Moms house to a couple from Ottawa. We must be doing something right here too.

How long was it listed, how big is it, and how much did it go for? Are the people moving here, or are they just going to rent it out?

Give it a rest Kyle. You're negative beyond belief. Get your campaign fundraising war chest ready and put your name on a ballot. I doubt you have the nuts to do it. All you do is b*tch and moan. Are you ready to be part of the solution or are you part of the problem ?

If it were good, I'd bet you'd be boasting about it.
Yes, properties here sit on the market for a long time and produce low selling prices. Cheap real estate often produces more absentee landlords.
I do hope they start doing things differently soon to change the direction our community keeps heading.

Are you ready to be part of the solution or are you part of the problem ? I am the problem? One individual can't be expected to buy enough property to keep a real estate office open. I have worked to be part of a solution. I attend Council meetings and tell them what I think should be done. I volunteered my time as the Neighborhood Watch Community Service Coordinator supervising workers to clean up our parks and city, but was declared an illegal resident when I wasn't. I volunteered to be on a sign ordinance committee, but was turned down. I don't have to run for an office to be involved and try to make my community better; not running for office does not negate my rights to talk about what I think is wrong. People were leaving Streator long before I started talking and trying to convince more people to join me in asking for change. Certainly you can't be trying to say that my one insignificant little voice, up against all of my detractors, has created a situation where so many people are leaving that the real estate office closed, can you? That would be ridiculous. This is a result of years and years of poor leadership of our community.

You whine about everything. You don't have the nuts to put yourself out there and take the criticism. Plus you couldn't get elected. You just like to b*tch. You're actually a non-factor that should be ignored but you're too stupid to shut your mouth. So I will continue to call you out for being the phony you are. Now go tear a ticket in half if you still have a job.
