Ok...Fundraising is a nice Idea....the Money would be used for WHAT?.... and the FREE meal program....is not free...the schools get that money thru the State and Tax payers.... And This group did look into how much other Supers get and yes he does make more Money... Our school system relies on the "State~aide" it generates kick back programs to help supplement the loss... the Problem is the THIS school district mismanages their funds and spends more then they receive... just like the State does.... It is Horrible to think that MONEY is more important then a child's education... GREED!...It is everywhere!. sad that It will put more teachers out of work...and Computers will replace the classroom and teachers... I give it 5-10 years....

Blame the 70% poverty on the dumacrats that have encouraged poverty over the last six years, the half breed has handed out money to the brothers at a staggering rate. That got him re-elected, and a four year vacation for his Caucasian hating spouse. Why does he and the other dumbacrat support raising the minimum wage? The poor, dumb, talentless voters, is why !

The money would be used to help out the school system as far as the budget goes. It's just an idea to maybe help out. And yes, State aide generates kick back programs to help the supplement. So do when the kids are on money for add and adhd and also the school receives money based on the attendance of the students. But all that does not help. And I'm also sure with the 14% displaced/homeless kids does the school receive kick backs for that? Yes, Greed is in the way on how the money is spent. It is mismanaged and there is not a thing we can do to change that part.

So someone who graduated from college, has a masters degree and working on his doctorate should not be paid a fair salary. 40% of the superintendents from school districts are retiring in the next few years. The high school superintendent is leaving for a better paying job. Who in their right mind would want to come to Streator and take over? The state is not paying their obligation to our district to pay bills. Streator's tax base cannot support the school do to financial obligations for teachers. Salaries, free health insurance and pensions. When the teachers decide to strike simply ask to see their contracts and the exact specifics as to why. If they want administration pay then I suggest they further their education and apply for the job. An average teacher retires between the age of 55 to 60 with a pension of $50,000 along with a 3% cost of living raise every year. Do the math on this one after 20 to 30 years of retirement. Free health care, 13 personal days that can be rolled over every year, continued education paid for, extra stipends, a work schedule of 181 days, The teachers automatically receive a cost of living raise every year along with any raises given at negotiations. District #44 teachers have been informed for over 10 years the consequences of demanding everything they want or else they will strike. Larger class sizes, staff cuts and elimination of extra programs for the students. Possibly the parents group will take a look at this and decide to strike at the administration office on this one. Ask for the complete budget on what it costs for healthcare and what the cost to the district on raises. 100 teachers times a $1,000 raise or $2,000 raise a year equals a large sum of money to the district. Free healthcare, low co-pays and a high percentage of pay out on claims. Take a look at the BIG PICTURE instead of focusing on one person. A person who stepped into a big mess one year ago created by other circumstances beyond his control. I would not wish his job on anyone. Again if you want what he has then go work for it.

65% of students in district # 44 are from low income families. Free education, free breakfast and lunch. Their parents qualify for reduced housing, utilities, free cellphone, food stamps and health benefits. Beat a man down because he has an education, pays taxes and contributes to society. Wow! What is this really about?

Ok I see your points here Focus... (keep the focus on the Big bad teachers) But look at it this way... an Employee works 20-30+ years and has a good retirement package. (that is wrong?) I don't see that as wrong...because they worked for it!!! They put their years in. Their healthcare is NOT free they do have a portion they pay. (so I have heard) those Personal days are mentioned but I see no Sick days... you also mention a Pension...that they pay into as almost any employee does at their job. and you also mention they get paid for 181 days.. what do they do for the remaining days left in the year?..that's right.. Unemployment! You make the TEACHERS out to be the only problem!... And as for Mr. W. He stepped into THAT mess with EYES WIDE OPEN... and he too is accountable for it, Has he put a stop to the free for all spending in this area...probably NOT. and NO I don't feel I am beating him down by questioning his morals... Does he have a Ph D?... to be paid the amount of a Super (with a doctorates) from the Chicago Area? NO! he has a MASTERS. Those Parents are only looking for answers to their questions... They are trying to protect the quality of their children's education and futures.

Ive been woundering if there isn't even more behind this problem. I understand the finaicial stress that has been put on school districts here in Illinois- This problem starts with Government- The state is paying potions of its liablities to communities such as ours. Now if we are going to point fingures i would think that is one direction id point. Another is our local city and county governments. I'm not here to throw anyone under the bus but what did the county and the city think was going to happen when we open up all the flood gates to free housing and retires. Not saying anything bad about either but here is the fact. Retirees spend less money- its proven. Retirees property taxes are lowered, and so on and so on. Lasalle county is also one of the biggest housing counties in the state- Not saying that there shouldnt be housing but Why do you think the City Of Chicago is trying to minimize housing. This has been leading up to this for a long time, it is a community situation and we did not get to this point in a year or so and we will not get out of this situation anytime soon. Be prepared for it to get much worse before it gets better. The Big picture doesnt just start with district #44, and as far as the administration- it was just a matter of bad timing. I would have never taken the raise at this point, they made a decision that they will be criticized for forever and they where aware of the situation and the ramification- but they still made that decision

It's a dog eat dog world out there, everyone for themselves, and it's going to get much worse (so sorry too say) He was looking out for Himself is all. I know it sounds greedy........ but what would most everyone else do? I understand both sides is all.

Wipedout, he is not paid even close to what superintendents make in the Chicago are. Some of those guys are making well over $200,000 a year. He is getting paid what superintendents make in this area, maybe even less. The high school guy gets paid more for half the students.

Illinoisloop.org is the website for Administrative pay in IL. Many in Chicago are making more than the Governor of IL or The President of United States. $250,000 and the highest almost at $400,000. Only in Illinois. With 836 school districts in IL it is costing the taxpayer's 630 million a year in pensions for superintendents. Simply consolidate the districts. Most states have 200 to 300 districts. The teachers single health insurance is free. Family insurance is a minimal monthly premium in district #44. 13 sick days and I believe 2 personal days. My mistake. You can simply go to the school district website and obtain the teacher's contract to review the benefits and salaries.

Have not seen nothing new on the website with in the past few days. Are they really getting any where? Why did they stop marching in front of the education building with the signs? Where they asked not to do that or something?
