Kyle Mitchell - mind your own business already - I am sure they are working on it. Worry about your own building and not everyone else's The condition of our downtown is my business because I have invested so much into it. Being able to walk down Main Street without having to worry about a building falling on you, is pretty detrimental to having a business in the area. Haven't you been worried about what I do at my building? I'll worry about what I want to. Well did you talk to them Kyle - or are you just trying to get the people in trouble. I never worry about what you do at your building - you just like to air your dirty laundry to the public.

Do you think the City didn't already notice that it is falling apart? Why would I talk to them about it, you don't think that they noticed that it is falling apart?

I have seen the building inspector there - have you? I have seen contractors looking at the building - have you? ? Like I said these people own several properties in Streator and are there all the time - if you are so concerned about THEIR building - why don't you talk to them and ask then when the work will be done?

I can read just fine. You asked if I was trying to get them in trouble. My talking about it on here is not doing anything to get them in trouble at all. I'm sure that the City already knows that their building is falling apart. No, I haven't seen the building inspector or contractors there. I have not seen the owners in a long time. I don't need to ask them when they will have the work done. I already have the expectation that they will get it done as soon as they can, but I can also say on here that I hope that they get on it soon too. What other properties do they own in town?

Kyle is back. Time to play whac a mole. I find it interesting that you see this as a game. Are the real estate office and Main Street sidewalk being closed, the many vacant buildings, the newspaper article highlighting excessive bar violence, and our continually decreasing population all signs that you are winning? If what I have to say didn't have merit, people wouldn't be so worried about it.

It was explained to you earlier in this thread the history of Canale Real Estate, but you choose to ignore that because it doesn't fit your agenda.
You also choose to ignore the follow up piece to the bar violence story that the reporter published.
You are a negative Nellie. It's a shame that you are stuck in such a crummy town as Streator. What a shame. If only there were other towns that would meet all of your criteria. However, I don't think a place exists that you would be happy to be living in.
I, for one, am so sick and tired of hearing you run down this town. I am not an original Streatorite. I have lived in other places but this is home. Quit running down our town (and us) at every turn.

Great observations, there is no Utopia, and attitude is everything in life. You wake up every morning and despite your circumstances, you can choose to be happy or choose to be miserable. I know, I know, people may be in constant pain or life's burdens get you down, most of us have been there one time or another, but it is the attitude you have that will help carry the day. Choose to be happy or choose misery, We do have our share of challenges in town, and maybe not every decision is perfect, that's just life. Get over it, and get on with life and do something positive. Talking about 'problems' constantly and overblowing the situations on here is certainly perpetuating Streator's bad reputation to 'out of towners' more than it is helping to create positive change. I LIKE our town, and the people that live here. They are my kind of people, honest, hard working blue collar folks. We may not be the most enlightened or educated or wealthy, but we don't have to be told our shortcomings when you don't see our strengths, that we are honest, hard working and caring. We work hard and maybe sometimes we play a little too hard too. We might laugh a little too loudly in Public. We are who we are. Despite all our blemishes, we have some awesome people here in little old Streator. Good post M$M right down too the heart.

It was explained to you earlier in this thread the history of Canale Real Estate, but you choose to ignore that because it doesn't fit your agenda. Does the history of Canale Real Estate really explain why there is no real estate office here? Am I really supposed to believe that no other real estate office is open here because of the history of Canale as explained by one of my detractors? Maybe my explanation that it takes more houses selling to support a real estate office is more believable to me and that is why I ignore my detractors explanation. You also choose to ignore the follow up piece to the bar violence story that the reporter published. I'm not ignoring the editorial on the genesis of the bar violence story. I remember the reporter talking about moving away to college and experiencing the image that others have of Streator, asking if he carries a knife. That is the reputation that I have been talking about that keeps people away and the reason that I think that there needs to be consequences for the actions of the people who keep substantiating and perpetuating that image, 34 times last year(the incidents that were actually reported at least). Nowhere in that story did I see him saying that the numbers were untrure, that the fights are acceptable, or that we should not work to improve those numbers. My talking about the article that provides the actual numbers is not ignoring his explanation of the article. The problems still do exist. You may see me as negative, but I see it asking for what I want. Obviously by the fact that people keep leaving our community, others want better too, but have given up on waiting for our leaders to change the direction we keep heading. I see our City declaring people who try to improve our community illegal residents as being negative. I see stopping a business with no justification as being negative. I see stifling free speech and ideas about improving our community as being negative. Talking about what I see as problems here and asking for a more positive government is not running down the people of Streator in my opinion. I think many people want our community to head in a different direction. You certainly don't have to read my posts if you are tired of hearing it

I find it interesting that you see this as a game. It is a game, a game called whac a mole. Every time you surface with one of your distorted, biased, twisted screeds, someone has to whack you. (verbally, of course) Yet, you keep popping up. Distorted, biased, and twisted? I noticed that you never verbally whacked me with a justification in our laws for the Mayor's industrial zoning requirement, or stopping events in City Park based on the subject being discussed. Are the statistics that show our declining population and low property values biased too? Am I distorted in thinking that it takes selling more houses to support a real estate office and maybe it isn't just one person's death that has all of them closed here? Am I twisted for wanting there to be less drunken brawls in our streets so that when people go off to college or other places they aren't asked if they carry a knife and so that maybe more people would be willing to come here? Other than some generalized claims and insults, I don't see you providing much of any argument against the issues I talk about. It is not a game to me, I want better for our community. I will stop popping up when our City starts doing things differently. Adding more bar licenses without even giving the public a chance to voice their concerns when we obviously have a problem with violence around the ones we have is not doing things differently in my opinion. Threatening legal action against a citizen for expressing his First Amendment rights is not doing things differently, in my opinion. Blaming business owners for the uninviting perception of City Hall shows me their lack of any inclination to doing things differently.
