Kyle, In my opinion, after 110 pages of you verbally PI$$ING on the Elected City Council, the Mayor, our City Ordinances, the Planning Commission, the Streator Police Department has discouraged more businesses from locating in Streator than anyone you ever witnessed peeing in a parking lot. But you have a mission don't you Kyle? If you can't have your way, Streator will suffer though innuendo, accusations, and opinion. You of course were just expressing your Constitutional Rights though. I guess you will grant those same Contitutional Rights to me won't you? g Gee greek, do you really think that the insignificant opinions of one individual citizen has out weighed the years and years of our City leaders continuing to turn their heads to the illegal activities, the reputation it keeps substantiating and perpetuating, and their not following our laws themselves? I hardly doubt it. If you seriously think that my talking about what happens here and asking that our laws be followed and enforced is over powering what our City leaders have done and is actually affecting our community, you are giving me way too much credit.

Gee kyle, if you believe your continually verbally Pi$$ing on our City of Streator, since our duly elected official disagree with your wishes somehow helps our community I would love to understand your reasoning. Let me present you with a scenerio of a potential successful (?) business person moving to our fine community to operate a movie theater, and investing in a building on our main street. After reading all your comment do you really believe that astute businessman would invest anything in Streator? Oh, and yes, it is one thing to go to the City Council and express your views; it's another thing to put it on the Internet for all future investors to read. But you knew that, didn't you? Guess what Kyle, I'm giving you no credit at all for your influence or message, just your choice of media. By the vast majority of the responses on this thread, you seem to keep Pi$$ing on your foot. g

By the vast majority of the responses on this thread, you seem to keep Pi$$ing on your foot. g No, my feet are completely dry. Good things sometimes do take time. I went to the City Council for years to express my views, because they did not respond with anything but vindictive attacks against me, I felt compelled to take to a new media. Sure my comments may not be too encouraging to an astute businessman presently. However, that astute businessman would probably be doing research for himself as well and would find out that our city is overly restrictive and does not allow participation in a sidewalk sale without a special Use Permit or breaking the law and hoping for some head turning. He would probably see that as wrong and not good for business without my pointing it out. Do you really think that trying to hide these problems from people and having them find out later, after investing is really a good thing? After reading my comments, I hope that some astute voters will look to our leaders, existing or new, for their answers to these problems. Once enough voters start to ask our City leaders to provide better for our community, I am confident that progressive change can happen and the astute business people will be ready to invest here and with much better results. That good change is worth waiting for and will not come if we keep turning our heads to our City leaders' overly restrictive ordinances and selective enforcement policies.

Kyle, are you living in Streator? Do you expect to be in Streator to vote in the next City Election for Mayor and City Council members? If not, then you are, in my opinion, Pi$$ing on our City and certainly simply being a vindictive person who didn't get his way. Hey, but that's just my, 1. Constitution Right of Free Speech, 2. My Opinion, 3. What I think, 4. All of the Above. g

Hey Kyle, what are the City of Hopkinsville, Kentucky ordinances on having "Flowers on the Sidewalk"?
You must know all about their City Ordinances before moving there or accepting a job there, because that seems to be a big issue with you.
Hey, can you post their City Ordinance on where in the downtown district you can establish an Aquaponics Business.
Please tell us that you have moved to a more "Progressive" community. Oh, and if you have I'm happy for you.
May you find peace, joy, and all the adulation you need to feel welcome in your new Progressive city.
But, that's just what I feel.

As I've explained several times, Kentucky is just a temporary project for the company that I work for. Not that it matters anyway, even if I didn't live in Streator, I would still have a right to talk about Streator whenever I want to, wouldn't I? Take a look around, there are other people on this forum who don't live in Streator. Start asking downtown business owners and I think you will find that there are quite a few of them who don't live in Streator and have no vote as to what happens here. You may see my talking about the good change that I want for the community that I have invested in as pissing on the City and my asking that our laws be followed as being vindictive if it makes you feel better, but I think that it says a lot about you as well.

Hey Kyle, knowing your love of poultry, could share with the forum the City Ordinance on having chickens within the city of Hopkinsville, Kentucky? g Haven't you been paying attention? I already posted that the ordinances are available online and the only restriction in Hopkinsville on laying hens seems to be that they can not run at large. It seems that whether living in a residential, commercial or any other zoning district, residents of this growing community are allowed to have as many as they like. Doesn't it make you wonder why the City of Streator sees a need to take away their citizens' serfs rights to have their own fresh egg producers that they know haven't been fed the chemical companies' cancer linked production boosters?

It portrays a scene of a good business environment in my opinion. I haven't looked up those ordinances because I don't plan on owning a building or opening an Aquaponics facility. In case you weren't paying attention again, my work in Hopkinsville is only temporary. Why do you want to see Hopkinsville ordinances, if you find a place that has a more restrictive ordinance against sidewalk sales, will it make you feel better about Streator's lack of business? Being able to display flowers on the sidewalk is only part of the issue with me. The overly restrictive ordinances and head turning selective enforcement policies of our City are also a big problem, in my opinion.
