Myselfs response is a streatoronline record for most questions asked in one post. Out of all that there is o e sentence that is not a question You never want to make statements which means you don't want to commit or make a stand for most anything you type. They're all just mostly questions. Wow, five questions is the record? I usually do question cesspool fill. They are all questions I've asked before, but were unanswered. I didn't expect him to provide answers because his claims are nothing but crap. There is no justification in our laws for the Mayor's industrial zoning requirement and there is no process for determining such requirements in our ordinance. I was just pointing out again that it was nothing but cesspool fill. So what is your end game concerning this formal review that you are waiting for?

He has no end game. Just his narcissistic babble. No rules or laws have been broken. If they had been Kyle would be sleeping outside of the doors of any lawyer that would help him, pro bono of course. It's the same old story retold over and over and over .........

What exactly is your end game here ,Kyle? First of all it is not a game at all to me. This is about trying to have buildings here have more use to give them, our city, and my investment more value. The end result for me, is to have a city government that is more progressive thinking, open minded, and less restrictive to businesses. No matter what his review states, it will only be used as ammo by you. If he sides with the mayor, you will scream corruption and good boys club. If he sides with you, it would be more ammo against the mayor personally. Either way, I will continue to say that the Mayor's requirement goes against our laws. If they were to side with me and allow it with a Special Use Permit in areas that greenhouses are allowed, I think they would show that they are being more open minded and friendly to business, but have you seen pigs flying around here yet? Do you really think they would side with me? What about the third option, if they come up with an entirely different requirement? Like I said, the Zoning Administrator told me what he said he told the Mayor the requirement should be, and I wouldn't be surprised if that is the result of the formal review. Best thing he can do is to defer to the planning commission as a whole to classify aquaponics then put it to the council for a vote. If I were in his position there is no way I would answer that question personally. Leave it up to the planning board and the council as a whole. Actually, I was hoping that that is what the formal review would have been when I requested it. If it would have been spelled out in our zoning ordinance that the formal review was just going to be one person's opinion, I probably wouldn't have even requested it. If anybody here knows the zoning administrator personally, you might want to suggest that to him. What is this, calling out a personal plea to try to keep him from making the Mayor look even worse? To keep situations like this even becoming an issue in the future, you could join me in convincing voters to ask our City to start doing things differently. Maybe you will, when... ...you see flying pigs in Streator?

I got lost when Kyle said 'formal review'. I was under the impression that no formal requests were made, just an informal meeting and a pitch. How could you get a 'formal' review if you never submitted a formal request? The results of the informal review being so ridiculous and extreme and the Mayor's battle/fight terminology about approval stopped the project and kept any formal request for approval of a particular project from being made. I just recently submitted a formal request for a formal review of our zoning ordinance to try to determine the City's official zoning requirement for Aquaponics, thinking that there might be a chance to have P&Z look into what the requirement should be. From the Zoning Administrator's response, I don't think he is even planning to talk to them about it.

In your conversation with the zoning administrator, you said he gave you his opinion on what his requirement would be. What did he say? I wasn't issuing a personal plea to try to make the mayor from looking worse. I made the suggestion to maybe spare the zoning administrator from the wrath of Kyle, and to put the review more in line with processes currently in our laws. For the record, I don't have a problem with joining you in asking voters to ask the city to start doing some things differently. Where we differ is that my focus will not be to drive out our current officials. I am more for working with these officials first, and then possibly changing things by utilizing the voting process in the future.

I've already tried working with some of these officials and feel that it is just a dead end. Feel free to try yourself. Maybe you could ask the Mayor to start following our laws when giving out requirements for perspective businesses, or that a process to get them the proper information be defined so that we can start to have more business here. Because they restrict free speech at election time and do not provide answers, I think we need to start informing the voters early to be able to have a chance for the change we need.

So what was the requirement that the Zoning administrator suggested to the mayor? I'll have to get back to that later. Naturally I will want to elaborate on it. Maybe you can already figure it out.

You will get back to me later? Its really so time consuming to name the business and zoning requirement that he said was most closely related to aquaponics?

Its really so time consuming to name the business and zoning requirement that he said was most closely related to aquaponics? Yes, I will get back to you later. Didn't you post that you see just ignoring me as being justified? Maybe I've had my three minutes and it is time for you to just move on. I've been talking about Aquaponics for years trying to get people to question our City about it. You had plenty of opportunity to go ask our Zoning Administrator what he thought the requirement should be. It wasn't as important to you to go ask about Aquaponics as it was to post on here your maybes and hypotheticals to try to discredit what I say. I give you answers to many of your questions, maybe you should look back at how many of my questions you leave unanswered. I don't know what makes you think that I need to provide every bit of information you request; obviously all you want to do is use it to try to discredit me. I was planning to post it now after spending my day working outside, but after reading your post, yes, I will get back to you later.

I think I do a d**n good job of answering your questions, or anyone elses questions that are directed towards me. You throw some really stupid, sarcastic questions out there that I am not going to waste my time answering. I am not the one obsessed with creating change, so you are correct, if this was all really important to me, I could have gone to the proper people and got my answers from them. You may think that all I want to do is discredit you, but that is not the case. You have admitted at least a couple of times that discrediting the mayor and voting him out is more important to you than working with him.

You don't know of even a small percentage of the conversations I have had with him, I have been very involved for years. Someone that gives false information and then just sits there with that smirk on his face and provides no explanation when he is confronted about it, I have a hard time working with. Then for him to go to the paper and blame business owners for their uninviting perception, without even suggesting that they could do things any differently, makes me say that we just need a new leader.

He has tunnel vision and we are all just wasting our time.

So, Kyle, a little more about the nuts and bolts of Auquaponics please. The fish are raised in water tanks and fed. The waste from the fish then fertilize the plants that are grown in a sort of symbiotic relationship. The plants add oxygen to the water for the fish while the fish help fertilize the plants to grow. Are the plants 'water plants' (some sort of fresh water seaweed or kelp)or can they be our more familiar 'garden variety' plants?(tomatoes, beans, squash, peppers, etc.) They are pretty much normal variety plants, right?(just grown with their roots in water instead of dirt) It actually is pretty cool and works right in with the locally grown, sustainable lifestyle movement.(what's not to like about fresher, healthier, locally grown food?) I just feel a confrontational approach is not going to yield positive results for you. If someone keeps banging their head against a concrete wall, they are going to get a huge headache long, long before you see any cracks in the wall. The water is aerated to add oxygen. The grow beds are a big part of the equation. There, micro-organisms grow that break down the fish waste to create food the plants can use and make the water safe again for the fish. Tomatoes and peppers can be grown with good results, but the most productive results can be with leafy vegetables and herbs, some of which can be produced in about half the time as standard growing methods. Typically the roots are in a small amount of some growing media, mainly to help give the plant some stability. There are basically three types of grow beds used. Large facilities usually use a raft system, with grow beds where the water is about a foot deep. Net pots with a wicking type grow media are put in holes in styrofoam rafts that float on top of the bed. Ebb & flow beds are typically used for smaller and home systems. Here the grow bed is filled with grow media and it is constantly flooded and drained of the water. Nutrient film transfer techniques have a small amount of the slowly moving water constantly trickling past the roots. It is typically done with PVC piping with holes where net pots are placed. Many times a combination of grow beds are used. I agree that producing healthy foods near by is a great thing, as is not spraying a bunch of chemicals that soak down into our water supply. Too bad that our City is not more open minded about it. I didn't have a confrontational approach when I went to City Hall. Because of the attitude of our City, I have given up on trying for results to be able to open an Aquaponics facility here. I really doubt that there will be one in Streator for a long time. Now it is just about trying to get a different attitude and process in City Hall so that maybe we will have some type of other businesses instead of so many vacant decaying buildings.

He has tunnel vision and we are all just wasting our time. Couldn't I say the same about a group of people here and at City Hall? I suppose that it is unreasonable for me to expect that our City would be able to give a justification for their requirement since it is not within our laws. I suppose that it is also be unreasonable for me to expect our Mayor to allow people to talk about ideas at City Park to clean up our community, seeing as how he doesn't have any. It is pretty easy to make generalized statements so that you don't have to stand behind any details. Are you sure that you don't also want to add that I don't understand our laws? Maybe someone will file a law suit against me to force me to understand our laws and be more reasonable. Maybe our City will just decide to start doing things differently. Maybe pigs will fly.
