Daughter just returned from Grand Ridge and ALL Highways are officially closed !
The Road Crews cannot keep up with the blowing snow and drifts nor can ComEd get in and outside of town to get to downed lines if we lose power.
Daughter lives outside of town and Farmers are struggling for shelter for their cattle. Some have more cattle than barn space and these negative temps weren't expected.

Where can I verify this with an official news source? I need something official to refer to in my line of work.

It was the State Patrols that had 23 N & S blocked and informed family once they returned to town, to no try to leave again. It's too hazzardous to have the trucks trying to clear the roadways and have people stuck in the ditches. The kids helped get 1 person out and it's much too dangerous to be on the side of the road due to lack of Visibility. *STAY HOME*, Don't RISK Your *LIFE* OR *OTHERS* Trying To Get From *Point A To Point B*, It's Not Worth IT !

I looked @ ISP & IDOTs site & didn't see it, but I did see that the county plows stopped. There was a rumor that IDOT was stopping @ 4pm earlier on WSPLs site, but they shared what IDOTs said, then deleted!
Don't forget if you see it on the net, it must be true!! LOL!
I agree, stay home.
BUT ... then some people are forced to go to work too! Been there done that many times!

IDOT MIGHT HAVE POSTED THESE ROADS ARE OPEN; WHEN STATE PATROL ARE SITTING AT THE EDGE OF TOWN, (N. 23) and inform you the Highways that enter in and out of town are CLOSED and to NOT plan on leaving or returning, I would stay off the roads.
Have the winds died down since about 4:00pm?

The issue is the temp it's - 41 degrees out there with the wind chill, that alone says enough.

Folks, can't say anything other than route 18 east of town, but unless you bloody well HAVE to, STAY HOME. Last night some genius got stuck in the middle of 18, then 2 other geniuses tried to go around, one on each side........ We made it home on N14th, but even that was an adventure.
This AM made it into work late, had to follow a state plow on 18, drifts over the top of my truck, blowing like crazy. You can't imagine what it is like outside of town, I couldn't believe how "nice" it is in town, nice being relative.......

Sniper, Say it's not true, YOU "HAD TO FOLLOW A STATE PLOW" to get to work late? " A STATE PLOW"? Oh well, my tax dollars were well spent so you could show up to "work late" since your "Nanny Corproration" could not get that limo out to pick you up for work to get you there on time. What was your rant when Obama said something about, "If you think you did it all by yourself"? g

Oh, BTW, you pay more IMAGINARY taxes than I pay REAL ONES? Golly, how can we ever prove this................
