i say where can i buy a nice pair of shoes or a nice outfit anyone know. its like living in ancona no place to shop Sad, but true. We DO have Raschid's for men and athletic shoes. We should do the courtesy of supporting the ones still left or they will fold up and be gone too. I am honestly surprised some of the ones remaining are able to keep going. I think we could all agree if a working man made $100 a day profit, he is doing acceptably well. He is not getting rich, but hopefully a step ahead of the bill collector. Now if someone has the investment in a building and inventory, and invest every day of his existence to keeping regular hours, he has expectations of profit on that investment. After expenses of property taxes, utilities, building maintenance, how much sales do you suppose they have to ring up every day, just to make a modest living. Would anyone want to tie up that much money and dedicate every day to a business to just make a modest amount? Come on now, don't make business ownership sound too glamorous. Streator's per capita retail spending being about half that of other similar sized communities in the area does not really entice many typical retail businesses. Maybe our city should be more open minded to other types of business. Someone on here was concerned with what could be left behind if a new type of business were allowed to exist downtown but then failed. That is a very valid concern considering the closed up military surplus place down here. I saw a scene in Anchorman 2 today that made me figure out the City's plans, the full time manager could be for their new wing place. They will probably do good with the low COGS and being able to advertise "Free Range".

Is it just me or does the vision seem to emphasize celebrating?
