Hand of Hope has connected with Service International to provide relief in Brookport, Illinois, a small community of 1,600 that was devastated by this weekend's tornadoes. Many of the hardest hit areas have received the help they need from other great organizations, yet Brookport is one community that has received very little help. It has been reported that in Brookport 200 homes were damaged, 67 completely destroyed, 65 are in need of major repairs and a number of businesses were also affected. Thanks to our friends and partners, we, along with Service International, will be able to go in and make a difference in this community. We'll keep you updated as more information is available. Please continue to pray for all those affected!
We know all too well that devastation that a tornado can cause. As the Midwest continues recovery, we wanted to pass this along to see if anyone can help. It is widely known that the Washington Panthers are in the football playoffs and have received some well-deserved support from around the area. But did you know that their drama department has been impacted as well. They were set to perform Shrek this weekend, but due to the tornado the show has been put on hold. Royalties and costume rentals have been taken care of, and they have found a new venue. But like the football players, many of the cast lost their homes. As a drama community, we need to reach out and help. If you can find the means to send a $50 gift card, it will help buy supplies, replace lost tights, dance shoes, makeup and more. The address is WCHS, 115 Bondurant St., Washington IL 61571. Let's show them what COMMUNITy theatre is all about and help support them, if we can.
Please send to the attention of Lisa Stout, drama director.
