Tom Selleck/Jack Elliot.....sorry, just made me think of Mr. Baseball. Tough one....Tuffy Rhodes, nope old Cub. 3 homers on opening day I believe, then nothing. I can only think of Bobby Valentine going there years ago......hmmmm, need to think more.

Wow, big with the Indians in their hey days.......great player. I knew he played until he was "older" and I think I heard something of this before but what a story!

Winter meetings 1988. Rangers sent first baseman Pete O'Brien, outfielder Oddibe McDowell and infielder Jerry Browne to the Indians for Franco, who led all major league second basemen with a .303 average. I remember this trade. He was in the all-star game 3 times & MVP once when he was with the Rangers. He really could not help the Rangers since well the Rangers were a very bad team. In 1993, he became a free agent and was picked up by the SOX.

MLB. Not a question. Who was the best catcher? If you want a question, who holds the record for striking out?

Best catcher defensively I would say Yadier Molina. Offensively I would say Johnny Bench. Strikeouts-Barry Bonds

Only disagree with FOT on one. I'd put Yogi Berra right up there with any of them. Plenty of great catchers, hard to pick just one. Molina gets as much out of a pitcher as anybody though.

I would also say Yogi. He just beats out Pudge. Both have MVPs, HOF, great bad ball hitters & defensively, Pudge could throw anyone out trying to steal 2nd base. But Yogi could call a game much better than Pudge. Yogi called Don Larson's WS perfect game. Most strike outs is Reggie Jackson.

Great catchers? I grew up a Cubs fan with the Likes of Steve Swisher, George Mitterwald and Barry Foote, so I should not even able to try and answer that question. On that note....too young to see Yogi but would have to go with Pudge Rodriguez.

On that note....too young to see Yogi but would have to go with Pudge Rodriguez. I thought Randy Hundley for the Cubs was pretty good. Like Jim Sundberg for the Rangers was. Maybe after Pudge left the Rangers, he finally was taught how to call a game. IDK.

A. J.Pierzynski was named "The most hated man in baseball." LOL I think he is one of the most colorful cathers to ever play the game. I saw him play catcher for one good year with the Texas Rangers. On June 4, 2014, Pierzynski was ejected by umpire Quinn Wolcott after a leadoff walk by pitcher Brandon Workman because he asked Wolcott to "give me a new ball. One you can see." During his turn at the microphone following the White Sox victory parade in 2005, he thanked team personnel "for putting up with me." Former White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen summed up the situation as, "If you play against him, you hate him. If you play with him, you hate him a little less."
