It was just a quick flash I saw on the History channel. Yeah, it was Manhattan....or Long Island....something. I would have guessed it was even more than 8 Billion though. Maybe it was Trillion.....it was a quick flash before commercial break. When they say $8 billion, they are probably only referring to the value of the land, not the value of all the infrastructure included.

You got me on the American Legion building. Can't remember anything other than Miller's, Tomasello', Kusnerik's, Thorpes and the corner of N. Monroe and Hickory was the gas station, all on the east side. On the west side was the Jewelery store, a small front, Monroe tap, Hart Reality and the post office all on the west. Then the park all the way to Kent st. Somebody help me out. I'm sure stumped Dave and I'm going back to when I came to Streator in '55. I did the same thing as you did Willy. I thought it may have been on the second story of a building in that block. OR----Maybe it was a typo in the news letter? ??

Yesterday was 11/12/13. When are the next TWO CALENDAR dates that will be 3 CONSECUTIVE ASCENDING numbers? The next two occurrences. Also what will be the next date that we will have 3 consecutive descending numbers? (example 7/06/05) 12/13/14 & 1/2/03 (2103) 3/2/01, 4/3/02, & 5/4/03

I am a building in downtown Streator with a purple wall facing a state highway.
(I know it is probably not a fair question since oldtimer and other city cheerleaders probably already have a list of the buildings with color that they find so offensive they feel the need to regulate it.)

In the 1960's the City of Streator had TWO places to ice skate. Where were they?

The bldg. next to the Library's parking lot. It is called a mural. C'mon a little purple in a mural, behind another building is not what I was talking about. Is it so offensive that people don't want to name the business, or so unoffensive that no one even notices it?

If I get time later I will have to cruise around and try and locate it.

I am a bldg. across from the Santa Fe depot. What kind of store was I when I 1st opened? It was a sporting goods store. I went there w/ my Dad to buy fishing tackle back in the 60's. I was in there 5 years ago and it was a furniture store.

Oakland Park and City Park? Oakland may have had an ice skating rink. I was thinking about City Park (old tennis court area they would flood .) and Marilla Park. Oakland Park had one in the SE corner of the park. Later in the '70's they occasionally flooded the baseball field on the south end of the park. I drove by the park yesterday and I noticed that they had removed the asphalt and curbs that use to be that old skate rink.

I was an outfielder that hit a lot of Homeruns. I struck out a lot too. I played for a lot of different teams including the Cubs for a while. I was considered one of those guys with a 'good stick, no glove'. I am one of the players of the pre-steroid era to hit over 400 homers and not be elected to the Hall of Fame. I once beaned the ballboy trying to throw a guy out at home. Who am I? Pete Rose?

I was just guessing. I'm not much of a Sports Enthusiast. Unless it has a Motor.
