Very wild guess, somewhere in Africa or South America. How's that for off the wall. Basketball is big is S. America that's why I guessed that.

Lack of courts has been brought up many times. When they were in the city park the crowds of unruly kids became too much to handle. The rims were broken several times cause they weren't made for dunking. The neighbors complained of the fights and noise. Central park (Sherman) had the same thing happen so they were eliminated. A man that I know well, had courts built on Frech street at his expense, and they were ruined as well. I had a nice goal in my driveway ruined by kids in my neighborhood. I took it down and donated the fiberglass backboard to the man on on Frech street. When I was growing up we were happy to have hoops at Grant school and didn't ruin things. Not so today. You would be hard pressed to find a neighborhood in town that wants that sort of problem near them. I sure don't, my area of town has enough problems.

Let's suppose biggest game ever, who'd you put on the slab. Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson, Juan Marichal, Warren Spahn all come to mind before Ryan and Johnson. Yes they were very good. Me, I want a shutout, my guys give a real good shot at it. My guys gave us complete games and shutouts and most of their careers they faced each other 25% of the time and most of the time they pitched against one another on Sunday afternoon at the old ball park. I know, I live in the past don't I? lol Dave, we've seen a lot of hall of famers in our lives haven't we?

Masked man, I don't think the quality of the courts should matter. When I was shooting hoops in the alley and only had a rim on a utility pole, I took care of it. Grant street had horrible hoops but we didn't tear them down cause we knew they wouldn't be replaced. Kids of today have different attitudes towards material things. Breaks, throw it away, forget fixing it. I think maybe where you're referring to, maybe those kids know if they tear them down they're not going to be replaced either. Drive thru town and you'll see plenty of baskets in people driveways with kids shooting.

I take guys who pitched between 1962-68, with a grain of salt, because they changed the mound and strike zone. I just read an amazing article about a guy who may have had the fastest fastball in baseball.....ever . Steve Dalowskisportsworld.nbcsports.com/fixing-steve-dalkowski/

Me either Willy. I think Gibson's strike zone got bigger as the game went on. He could really hit the corners and DO NOT CROWD the plate. He woould paste ya. I have got to give Kolfax & Gibson their just dues. Everytime they pitched, it could be a no hitter. Especailly when they were pitching against my Cubs.

But the Reds played the Oakland A's in the WS. Oakland was in for the 1st time. Meanwhile, the Reds, who won one fewer game than the Pirates during the regular season, became the first team in MLB history to reach the World Series without having the best record in its league.

Not the Alous either Dave. (I would have guessed same ones you have too Dave) One was a ChiSox slugger missing a Thumb. Lost it serving our country in Marine Reserves. Still was a good hitter. Good clue. I looked it up. But I hope someone can GUESS the answer. I'll keep my mouth shut.

The one that lost his thumb was due to keeping it too long over a mortar tube, was Carlos May, the other was Lee May, but wouldn't have guessed it without the clue. Forgot all about them.

I watched on tv one night at the station Richie Allen score from 1st base. Big deal you might say. He scored on a not so great single to right field and never drew a throw to home. He was as good a base runner I've ever seen. The reason I remember. Flyer Perzel had a derby and needed one run for his ticket to come in. The next batter made an out and that run got him a winner. Even fast runners would have held at 3rd. He was such a great athlete but his attitude really held him back.He could do it all and I was never a sox fan.

Didn't he hate the name Richie and prefered D!ck Allen? Like the Pirates called Clemente, Bobby, instead of Roberto, which cheesed him off sometimes.
