George "Jodie" Harrison. I've been giving scholarships away in his honor for years. Was one heck of a good guy and good friend. If you check I believe he got drafted in baseball also. What amazed me about Jodie, he wasn't the best shot or best rebounder, but when you needed either he could do it. When he was at Alabama he set a freshman scoring record down there and for the most pts. scored in a game. He got to Illinois they wanted him to run the team and that he did. He was killed May 28, 1991, a horrible day for me when I found out. He reminded me of Rick Barry in HS. When you wanted a basket, Jodie would get it inside or ourside. I came across a 1962 picture my bro sent me a X-Mas. It was a church deal. Just behind me was Doug Dieken. Two rows in front of me was the future Ms. Harrison, A cheerleading partner of Renae (sp) was over to the side. And the oldest friend I have known was in front. I was amazed. I also was the geekiest lookin guy in this picture. You are a lucky man. I never met Jodie.

While all are on the football question, here's one to test you. Who's the 1st male basketball player to have won a state championship, a college championship, a gold medal in the olympics and be on an NBA championship team? MJ?

Well if it isn't Oscar I'll go with Jerry Lucas. Just good players from my era. Might be Bill Russell but I'll stick with Lucas. I grew up in Ohio.

Bingo cmon, one of the best to have ever played the game. Super brain too. I watched a program yesterday where someone told the story how he memorized a phone book on a road trip to another town. Since you grew up in Ohio, do you remember Gary Bradds. He also played for Ohio State and could light it up. He died really young.....Dave, I always tell the story if Jodie walked into a room full of strangers by the time he left the room they'd all be calling him their best friend. He was that nice of a person and that was to everyone. He was the glue for the class of '65 and the only sport I really got to play on the same team was our baseball team. We went to state in '63 and Jodie was our 1st baseman. There hasn't been a team go to state in baseball since. God, he was such a great guy, it gets harder each year to get up and talk about him.

I think I saw Jodie and Doug on the cover of Sports Illustrated when they played for U of I. Am I wrong on this?

Jim Carbone scored the first touchdown. He was the QB for the Cardinals. We had the ball on the one yard line and Coach called a QB sneak to get some breathing room. He broke it off for 59 yards and a TD. First play of the game and league.

Baseball....Why do the away teams wear gray? Didn't it have to do with something back in the day where the away teams didn't wash their uniforms and gray showed the least amount of dirt?

Pedro Jaime Martínez (born October 25, 1971) is a Dominican-American baseball pitcher who played 18 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for five teams, mostly as starter. Martinez is an eight-time All-Star, three-time Cy Young Award winner, and 2004 World Series champion. His WHIP is the lowest of any live-ball era starting pitcher, and his Adjusted ERA+ is the best of any starting pitcher in MLB history. Martínez also has the second highest winning percentage in modern baseball history, and the third highest strikeout rate and strikeout-to-walk ratio. He was great. And he was a little feller. Listed at a generous 5'11". Plus his is just a real nice guy.....off the mound.
