OK history buffs, when JFK was shot and LBJ sworn in, who was then in turn next in line for Presidency if anything happened to LBJ? Most of us know that Ford was sworn in as VP when Agnew resigned, and just a few short months later became our first President that was not elected by the people. So who was next in line after LBJ after the Kennedy assassination? The Speaker of the House in 1963 was John William McCormack. I think he was older than LBJ. Now, who was next in line after McCormack?

Well, I think next in Succession would be the most senior Senator. (or maybe senior Senate member of the majority party, I forget) Next it goes to Cabinet positions, I think. Secretary of State, Attorney General, etc.(strange that Bobby Kennedy was not far down the list as Attorney General) I really don't know who the ranking Senator was of the day. That is way back before Teddy Kennedy was even elected and when Strum Thurmond was fairly young. Also strange when Alexander Haig, one of Regan's top guys said he was in charge when Regan was shot. I guess he forgot all about the order of Presidential succession. President pro tempore or the Senate was Carl Hayden 1957-69. He would be next in line.

It was Washington for the very reasons you came up with MM. I thought it was a good Lincoln question as several justices went South to the CSA. He got 5 picks. Then I find out that Jackson before him and even Ike had 5 picks as well as several others. I guess it is because not too many Presidents have had more than 2 picks in several decades. Carter got zip. Okay. New question! First father-son to be Presidents.

JQ was raised in Europe during the American Revolution. He lived in England, Netherlands, Russia, France and some other places. He was a quick study at learning languages which drove John Adams nutz as John could not even learn French while he was in Europe. JQ probably was our best Sec. of State as well as a decent Pres. Franklin spent most of his time in Paris attending the salons.

I'll pick George Harrison simply cause he was still recording up until his death. But it's probably Lennon with Hey Jude.

Baseball question: I was a working actor until I died in 2006? I was on 700+ TV shows and before that in the movies. (Magnificent Seven was one) But never the star. My son is an actor who is a star. BUT! I won the MLB Manager of the year in 1977 as the only owner of an INDEPENDENT baseball team that played in the Class A league. I formed this team. I owned it and I managed it. The people of Portland loved my baseball team made up of cast offs and wanna bees. They won games.
