Tekes started out at Beavers tap, on the alley on the north side of the plumb hotel. And, so what happened to them though, and what year would that have been...I only remember going in there when Jim and Barb ran it, and that had to be like in '76 ? M

Which place was next to Miller's Cigar store ? (My home away from home in HS) Next to Miller's on the corner was Stacy's Pool Hall...then Trapp's DD.... I've never gone to The Rockwell Inn in Morris to see the bar that came out of Trapp's and moved there...I guess there is a plaque commemorating that the back bar did come from Streator, Illinois. I guess when Trapp's sold that back bar and it was yanked out of the building then that they found tons of old silver coins behind it. Back in the day guys used to sit at all these old bars and chuck their loose change up over the back of it. Someday I want to go to the Rockwell Inn and actually see that bar again................. Sad though really to think that bar isn't still in this town, along with the infamous WOODY from Woody's!!! The big guy and I went through Olgelsby one day and we stopped and ate at that drive-in...just to visit WOODY!!! M

When I was 17 and sitting w/ my Dad at Phil Olivers, he gave Phil the word. Serve me only beer and don't let me get drunk. Don't sell me anything to go. That worked out just fine for me.

It is a real nice drive-in and still has car hops. And of course, great root beer.

I told the big guy that I wanted to put him in the back of his truck and bring him back home with us, where he belonged. That is just another iconic thing that should have never left our town.... M

I spotted this place in Dwight last night.. www.cherryredroasters.com/Cherry_Red_Roasters/Home.htmlanyone been there? So, what was the asking price for the bar on eBay, and did it end up being sold though? That place over in Dwight looks like a great place, and their prices are very reasonable too. I want to try their home made bbq potato chips...I'm a chip freak!!! It didn't appear that they sold liquor there either at least I didn't see any on their menu, so yes that could have been done then at The Bullpen. M

I cant remember the exact asking price... Digging around online I did come across Rockwells defunct facebook page and the history of the bar..
posted on Jan 16,2012 "The bar was built in 1893 by Brunswick and displayed by Anheuser Busch at the Columbian Exposition World's Fair on Chicago's Lake Front.
Via Clydesdale horses, the bar was moved to Trapp's bar in Streator Illinois. In 1976, the bar was purchased for the Rockwell Inn. In 1985 a fire in the attic destroyed the building but the bar was protected from the fire by the tin ceiling which had fallen and covered the entire area. It was lifted out by crane and refinished.
Constructed of mostly Mahogany and Red Oak, both the front and back bar are original. The lions heads and brass rail were an excellent addition in 1976."
If memory serves me correct the Ebay sale was prior to 2012 so I'm assuming the bar was not sold...
