The Reason for the Not Guilty Verdict in the Casey Anthony Case Judge H. Lee Sarokin 1.) The jury in the Casey Anthony trial was not instructed that circumstantial evidence is entitled to the same weight and consideration as direct evidence. 2.) The fact that Casey Anthony was the last person to have custody of her daughter, failed to report her missing (or dead) for 31 days, consistently lied once confronted, and the child was found dead and hidden, and she failed to tell what actually happened despite repeated opportunities to do so to her family, friends or law enforcement, (even when faced with the death penalty) was sufficient to find her guilty -- not necessarily of premeditated murder, but certainly all lesser charges. 3.) There is no legal distinction between direct and circumstantial evidence as far as probative value; the law permits you to give equal weight to both... 4.) Obviously I cannot be certain that such an instruction would have made a difference. However, the few tidbits received from jurors seem to suggest that the lack of direct evidence of guilt was the prime factor in their verdict.(Note from BB: the value of and importance of circumstantial evidence was not made clear enough to the jury by either the judge or the prosecutors.) www.huffingtonpost.com/judge-h-lee-sarokin/casey-anthony-jury_b_898550.html

The prosecution, defense and judge decide on the instructions given to the jury. The two sides submit them, and each can object, the judge rules on their arguments.

How many more posts of yours does the Moderator have to delete before you get the message that your forum behavior is pretty much out of control?

Why this thread why not ad to what is already started I thought the aftermath of the trial and verdict deserved it's own thread. Why the stress over it?

Caylee's Law is an attempt to deal with the issue of parents/guardians who don't report their missing children. Children are precious gifts from God and should be treated as such. About 18 states are considering some form of law that would make it a felony not to report a missing child.
I agree with the common assessment that Casey Anthony is a narcissistic sociopath who bears the burden of blame for the death of her 3 year-old. If this law had been in place, she would have at least done some prison time for something.

Casey Anthony hits the road in a few hours.
A jail spokesman says: "...the facility has not given Anthony any special treatment, but her release is the exception. The jail's preliminary plan will allow three journalists: a videographer, a photographer and a reporter to be inside the jail to capture Anthony's final steps to freedom." Jail officials said the media will be notified by email, once Anthony is a safe distance away.
I bet the jail workers will be glad.

I dont believe she killed the little girl. I do believe an accident happen and i dont believe it was purposely done but things got bent out of proportion and wasnt reported. The jury found her not guilty because the state screwed up thats the fault of the state. That girl was 100 % guilty before she even stood trial from the media and if anything happens to her her family should be able to sue the media. It use to be innocent until proven guilty but the media and all the nib noses out there had her exicuted before she even went to trial. The state didnt prove its case and u dont see people wanting to linch mob them.

One thing often commented on is the fact that she is very recognizable, whether she cuts and dyes her hair...whatever...she will basically have to be in a self-inflicted lockdown for months...maybe years. If she begins using her notoriety to go on talk shows and such too soon, she raises the true possibility of becoming a target for a "crazy." My bet is that she is going to get a huge advance on a book, hole up somewhere with a ghostwriter and get ready to make some serious benjamins. Give it a year or so and then she'll hit all the media hotspots to promote her book. A made-for-TV movie will soon follow. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43779254/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/

I don't think she stands a chance. I think some "crazy" will get to her. With her personality, after being in jail for 3 yrs., I don't think she'll be able to stay reclusive. She'll need to find a party somewhere.

She'll need to find a party somewhere. Think how funny you would feel if you were one of the lawyers whisking her away this morning and one of the first things she asked for was some booze? On another note...my guess is that as time goes by, Baez will have to admit to himself who she really is and what she really did. I'm telling you all, as time passes, things are going to occur that make no bones about what the truth is...you just get the sense that there will be no rest or redemption for this woman and that much that has yet to be definitively laid to rest will be uncovered in the fullness of time.
