My grands are sick with high fevers, sore throats, and swollen glands. This is odd for this time of year when they spend most of their time outdoors. The 2 little ones had Strep Tests done today but they both came back negative. I'm just wondering if anyone has/had BAD Sore throats, Swollen Glands and High Fevers? It sure is a Bad time of year in the heat to have high fevers. Since the Strep tests came back negative they are going to watch them for a longer than normal period of time to see if the tests may grow something latent. POOR little ones.

Have your little ones been swimming lately? I heard of several sore throats and swollen glands last year that some children picked up after swimming. Hope they are better soon.

hope they feel better soon. did they check their ears for infection? possibly from swimming? sore throat can come from drainage. fever from infection. i have heard there is a summer cold tho going around.

The "2" littlest ones are still carrying fevers and not eating. Both have ear infections and have been exposed to plenty of Mosquito's. Over the 4th they were all in the River swimming and playing........ YUK! Years ago we were told by our Physician to NOT drink Streator water so it's against my better judgment for the children to be swimming in the Vermilion. The babes Dr. wont put them on Antibiotics until she knows for sure it's Strep or Viral. The symptoms sure mask Strep. Dr's. don't prescribe Antibiotics as they use to and I believe this to be good. IF the body gets used to Antibiotics, it not only becomes immune to the Antibiotic but also kills off all bacteria, good and bad. If by Tuesday they are still carrying fevers and not eating ,they go back to the Dr. and will probably be prescribed Antibiotics. My children were told it can take up to 30 days for a Strep culture to show up positive. West Nile hadn't entered my mind. I haven't heard of any case thus far this year. THAT SCARES ME!I hope everyone is feeling better soon.... and thank you for the well wishes. cp/

I'm SORRY to hear so many are feeling bad. I hadn't thought of West Nile.
Thank you Twista for the information about West Nile, that's scary, especially since the kids have a lot of the symptoms and have multiple bite marks on them. They use Repellent diligently but that doesn't mean they can't be bit by at least "1". That's all it takes. As of this am the little ones are still sick. 5 days for one and 4 for the other.
My best wishes for a healthy recovery to those who are sick. Please, if someone you know or is diagnosed with West Nile, Please Post it.
KEEP THE HAND SANITIZER ACCESSIBLE and USE THE WIPES AT THE GROCERY STORE!
