Finally Illinois does something right. Thats your opinion ,not mine.. Getting rid of the death penalty just shows the criminals that its open season on the ciitezens .. I would have liked to seen Illinois go the opposite direction..like an assembly line..walk them in and carry them out

Unfortunate.
At what time the fear of the death penalty was a crime deterent. The death penalty should be used and often.
Criminals now have little to fear and since Illinois is the only state withiout concealed carry, it's residents are ripe for picking.
Maybe a new gov with some stones will reinstate it!

So, now instead of killing these killers, we have to pay for their stay for the rest of their lives. Ridiculous!

no what will happen is the people will start vigilante groups to take the law into their hands, and target these criminals and kill them ,themselves. there is no need to abolish the death penalty. scientists today have the technology to prove the person charged with murder is the one who did the crime. dna can prove whether a person is innocent or guilty.

hey healthcare being cut in illinois, may spark off people to do crimes in this state that are life sentences in prison,so they can still get medical treatment. instead of stealing $1,you will see more people going out and murdering others to get a life sentence.

So with peoples healthcare being cut its better to kill someone so you can go to the pen and have insurance?? I would rather suffer and die a free man

Personally, I would not be affected in any of the situations aforementioned. Let's DO IT! We have to cut spending in Illinois. Time for " All of Us" 'er "All of You", to SHARE THE PAIN. If the death penalty has been abolished, health care for the prisoners is abolished, and we abolish IDPA and Medicare; then the best way to survive is, to have a private or employee health care plan, or NEVER, EVER GET SICK. Are you O.K. with that? That should save me a bundle of money. Now I like your plan! g

Finally Illinois does something right. your opinion. as has been said, i too dont share it. john wayne gacy benefited from the death penalty here in illinois and i said good riddance. if you take a life you pay the price whatever it may be. and if you take a childs life(as i believe the case w/ casey anthony) your life is to be taken. lets just say someone killed your child, mother, father, brother, sister, etc. gg. would you feel the same? some people have forgiveness but i would want to see the murderer preferrably fry. wont bring my loved one back, but it sure will be closure. not closure when your loved one is dead and the one who murdered them is sitting behind bars alive every day to get education, work, visit their family. i dont think anyone was loosing sleep when gacy was sent to death nor when ted bundy was sent to death.

2 wrongs does not make it right. when the time comes , the murderer will be judged by god,and sentenced appropriately.
